Disclosed herein is a composition comprising a compatible blend of i) 60 to 85 weight percent of a linear poly(arylene sulfide), ii) 15 to 40 weight percent of a polyetherimide sulfone; and iii) 1 to 3 weight percent of a novolac resin having an average of 2 or more epoxy groups per molecule. Weight percent is based on the total weight of the composition. An article made from the composition has a tensile strength greater than or equal to 70 megaPascals (MPa), as determined by ASTM D638, an impact strength of greater than or equal to 3 kiloJoules per square meter (kJ/m), as determined by ASTM D256, and an elongation at break greater than or equal to 3 % as determined by ASTM D638. Methods of making the composition are also disclosed.

Blends of polyetherimide sulfone and poly(arylene sulfide)

Thermoplastic compositions comprising polyamide, polyimide, an organo phosphorus compound and an optional reinforcing filler are described. The subject compositions are useful in blow molding methods. A method of blow molding is also described as well as articles made by the method.

Disclosed herein is a composition comprising a compatible blend of i) 24 to less than 84.5 weight percent of a linear poly(arylene sulfide), ii) 14 to 75 weight percent of a polysiloxane/polyimide block copolymer; and iii) 0.1 to less than 2.5 weight percent of a polymeric compatibilizer having 2 or more epoxy groups per molecule. Weight percent is based on the total weight of the composition. An article made from the composition has tensile elongation greater than or equal to 60% as determined by ASTM D638 and a Notched Izod impact strength greater than 50 joules per meter as determined by ASTM D256 at room temperature.

Blends of polysiloxane/polyimide block copolymer and poly(arylene sulfide)

Compositions and articles of manufacture made therefrom for use in high temperature application, such as automotive reflectors, have a minimum haze onset temperature of about 205&#xb0; C. and are made from a transparent, miscible blend of from about 30 to about 70 weight percent of a polyetherimide sulfone comprising greater than or equal to 50 mole percent of the polymer linkages have an aryl sulfone group and from about 70 to about 30 weight percent of a polyetherimide or polyimide. 

Polyetherimide and polyetherimide sulfone blends having automotive lighting applications

A thermoplastic composition comprises a polysiloxane/polyimide block copolymer and a polyester/polyether block copolymer. The polysiloxane/polyimide block copolymer has 5 to 50 weight percent (wt %) polysiloxane, based on the total weight of the polysiloxane/polyimide block copolymer. The polyester/polyether block copolymer has 5 to 30 wt % polyether based on the total weight of the polyester/polyether block copolymer. In some embodiments the polysiloxane/polyimide block copolymer is present in an amount of 75 to 99 wt % and the polyester/polyether block copolymer is present in an amount of 1 to 25 wt %, with the weight percent of the block copolymers based on the combined weight of the two block copolymers.

A high flow polyester composition is disclosed, which comprises at least one polyester and at least one flow enhancing ingredient of structure, I, where, R=NHor CH2OH; R=CH, CHCHor CHOH or any of C1-C20 alkyl group which may have one or more hydroxy group substituent, C3-C20 cycloalkyl group, C6-C20 aryl group, C1-C20 alkoxy group which may have one or more hydroxy group substituent or C6-C20 aryloxy group. A good balance of flowability and mechanical properties is obtained by controlling the amount of the said flow-enhancing ingredient. The composition further comprises reinforcing fillers, impact modifiers, a property-enhancing thermoplastic such as polycarbonate and flame retardant chemicals. The compositions are suitable for making automotive, electric and electronic parts.

High flow polyester composition

Material selection systems and methods for quickly identifying which existing material best matches a desired set of properties are described so that product development time can be minimized. Users may input the properties they desire in a material, which properties they want searched and scored, the acceptable values of those properties, and a priority value for each property. Preliminary matching materials may be retrieved from a materials database, and an index value for each property value may be calculated. One of four fuzzy membership functions may then be utilized to calculate a scored property value for each property of each material. The scored property value may then be weighted to account for the priority value assigned to each property. The results may then be sorted in descending order based on their overall match scores, and output to the user so the best matching material(s) is readily identifiable by the user.

Systems and methods for selecting a material that best matches a desired set of properties

A thermoplastic resin molding composition comprising an alkylene aryl polyester, a core-shell impact modifier for enhancing heat resistance having a shell derived from an alkylacrylate and a rubbery acrylate core derived from an acrylate having 4 to 12 carbon atoms, an effective amount of a difunctional epoxy compound for enhancing hydrolysis resistance of the resin, and a combination of color enhancing stabilizers comprising a thioester stabilizer, a phosphite or phosphonite stabilizer and a hindered phenol stabilizer.

A method for increasing the crystallization rate of a polyethylene terepthalate (PET) prepared based on terepthalic acid (TPA) and ethylene glycol monomers, by adding into said TPA-based PET an effective amount of a polyethylene terepthalate prepared based on dimethyl terephthalate (DMT), in an amount sufficient for said thermally formable composition to have an increase in crystallization temperature as required for the final end-use application.
