A reflected light wavelength scanning device having a silicon photonics interrogator is provided. The device includes: a light source module for outputting broadband light; an optical sensor that receives light output from the light source module through a circulator, reflects light in a specific band to the circulator, and transmits light in a band other than the specific band; and an interrogator for selectively injecting the polarized light by separating the polarized light from the reflected light input through the circulator.

Disclosed herein is a recirculating programmable photonic circuit including a programmable optical coupler including two first programmable waveguides and configured to adjust optical coupling efficiency of an optical signal based on a vertical movement of one of the two first programmable waveguides, a phase shifter including a second programmable waveguide and configured to change a phase of the optical signal based on a horizontal movement of the second programmable waveguide with respect to the first programmable waveguides, a plurality of core cells connected to each of the programmable optical coupler and the phase shifter to form a predetermined shape, the core cells being selectively driven by moving the optical signal from the predetermined shape according to the optical coupling efficiency and the phase, and an actuator electrically connected to one side of each of the plurality of core cells and configured to control the vertical movement and the horizontal movement.

Recirculating programmable photonic circuits and operating method thereof

The present invention relates to an optical device comprising a first sub-chip and a second sub-chip flipped over on the first sub-chip. The first sub-chip includes a first substrate, a first lower cladding pattern on a first surface of the first substrate, and a first core layer on the first lower cladding pattern. The second sub-chip includes a second substrate, a second lower cladding pattern on a second surface of the second substrate, and a second core layer on the second lower cladding pattern. The first surface of the first substrate faces the second surface of the second substrate. The first lower cladding pattern has a first top surface parallel to the first surface and a first sidewall inclined to the first surface. The first core layer includes a first core part on the first top surface and a first side part on the first sidewall.
