An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes a display, a communication circuit, a sensor, and a processor, wherein the processor is configured to identify, through the communication circuit, data packet information associated with an external electronic device, identify a first external electronic device from among the external electronic device based on the data packet information, obtain a predicted frame (P-frame) pattern during a first time period and a P-frame or received signal strength indication (RSSI) pattern during a second time period based on information associated with the packet size of the first external electronic device in the data packet information, identify a motion vector during the second time period through the based sensor, and provide position information about the first external electronic device based on the P-frame or RSSI pattern during the second time period and the motion vector during the second time period.

Provided are an electronic device and a method for controlling the electronic device. According to the disclosure, an electronic device configured to perform a radio access network function comprises: a communication interface comprising communication circuitry, a processor operatively connected with the communication interface, and a memory operatively connected with the processor, wherein the memory stores instructions which, when executed, cause the processor to: receive, via the communication interface, wireless communication data transmitted via a radio access network, process the received wireless communication data based on a radio access network protocol by at least one first virtualized module corresponding to at least one function of the radio access network, identify an abnormal sign based on the received wireless communication data or a result of processing of the wireless communication data by the at least one first virtualized module, transfer security information indicating the abnormal sign to a second virtualized module by the at least one first virtualized module, and determine an expected security threat on the radio access network based on the security information indicating the abnormal sign by the second virtualized module.

According to various embodiments, an electronic device includes a wireless communication module, and at least one processor, wherein the at least one processor is configured to: acquire data rate information of at least one external electronic device through the wireless communication module; identify a first external electronic device having a data rate pattern corresponding to a first condition among the at least one external electronic device based on the data rate information; identify channel state information (CSI) of a channel through which the first external electronic device performs communication, through the wireless communication module; identify whether the data rate pattern of the first external electronic device matches a CSI pattern of the channel; and identify whether a space where the electronic device is located is captured by the first external electronic device based on the identification result.
