A head-mounted wearable device (HMWD) uses temples as housing for a transducer, maximizing the available space within the temples for other components, such as a battery. The exteriors of the temples act as housings so that separate transducer housings do not consume space within the temples. The temples may include openings that direct emitted sound toward the ear of a user of the HMWD. Sound generated by the transducer exits the openings and provides audio to the user's ear having a suitable volume. Each temple may include two microphones to facilitate use of a beamforming algorithm. When voice input is received, the HMWD may determine a particular set of microphones for use based on a charge level of power storage devices in each temple, a noise level associated with the microphones, or other factors.

A sensor processing unit comprises a sensor processor. The sensor processor is configured to communicatively couple with a microphone. The sensor processor is configured to acquire, from the microphone, a sample captured by the microphone from an environment in which the microphone is disposed. The sensor processor is configured to perform music activity detection on the audio sample to detect for music within the audio sample. Responsive to detection of music within the audio sample, the sensor processor is configured to send a music detection signal to an external processor located external to the sensor processing unit, the music detection signal indicating that music has been detected in the environment.

Music detection and identification

A sensor processing unit comprises a microphone and a sensor processor. The sensor processor is coupled with the microphone. The sensor processor is configured to operate the microphone to capture an audio sample from an environment in which the microphone is disposed. The sensor processor is configured to perform music activity detection on the audio sample to detect for music within the audio sample. Responsive to detection of music within the audio sample, the sensor processor is configured to send a music detection signal to an external processor located external to the sensor processing unit, the music detection signal indicating that music has been detected in the environment.

The present technology substantially reduces undesirable effects of multi-level noise suppression processing by applying an adaptive signal equalization. A noise suppression system may apply different levels of noise suppression based on the (user-perceived) signal-to-noise-ratio (SNR) or based on an estimated echo return loss (ERL). The resulting high-frequency data attenuation may be counteracted by adapting the signal equalization. The present technology may be applied in both transmit and receive paths of communication devices. Intelligibility may particularly be improved under varying noise conditions, e.g., when a mobile device user is moving in and out of noisy environments.

Adaptive signal equalization
