In example embodiments, a method includes obtaining a first measurement of at least a first physiological parameter of a user from a time before presentation of an information item to the user. The information item may be, for example, a notification, an advertisement, or an emergency alert, among other possibilities. A second measurement of the first physiological parameter is obtained from a time after a beginning of the presentation of the information item to the user (e.g. during the presentation). Based at least on a comparison between the first and second measurements, a determination is made of whether the user has perceived the information item. The determination may also be based on a corruption coefficient indicating an amount by which an activity of the user is likely to interfere with the first physiological parameter.

Systems and methods are provided for implementing a device-independent scene in a home automation environment. One embodiment is a method comprising receiving information regarding a home-independent home automation scene, the information identifying a zone property and an identified zone type; identifying, in the designated home, a zone corresponding to the identified zone type; identifying at least one home automation device capable of affecting the zone property in the identified zone; for each of the identified devices, identifying a device state of the respective device that contributes to the zone property; storing a home-automation scene for the designated home, wherein the home-automation scene comprises information identifying the at least one identified devices and the respective identified device states of those devices; and in response to user selection of the stored home-automation scene, causing the at least one identified device to perform the respective identified actions.

System and method for utilization of device-independent scenes in a smart home environment

An example disclosed method in accordance with some embodiments includes: receiving head tracking position information from a client device, the head tracking position information associated with a user at the client device; predicting a future head position of the user at a scan-out time for displaying a virtual reality (VR) video frame, wherein the VR video frame is displayed to the user via the client device; determining an overfill factor based on an expected error in the predicted future head position of the user; rendering an overfilled image based on the predicted future head position of the user and the overfill factor; and sending the VR video frame including the overfilled image to the client device for display to the user.
