An approach is described for a user equipment (UE) to provide vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication in a 5G new radio (NR) network. The UE includes processor circuitry that mode switches between two modes of resource allocation for the V2X communication, the two modes being a first mode and a second mode, wherein the first mode is a network scheduled resource allocation mode, and the second mode is a UE autonomous resource allocation mode. The UE also includes radio front end circuitry that communicates with a second UE using a V2X sidelink in the first mode or the second mode.

Methods for simultaneous support of and switching between scheduled and UE autonomous resource selection modes for NR V2X sidelink

A computer-readable storage medium stores instructions for execution by one or more processors of a UE. The instructions configure the UE for small data transmission (SDT) in a 5G NR network and cause the UE to perform operations comprising detecting while in an RRC_Inactive state, a radio link failure during a first SDT of UL data to a base station. A secure key for a second SDT is generated based on the radio link failure. A configuration message including an indication of the second SDT is transmitted to the base station. A response message including a UL grant is received from the base station. The UL data is encoded for the second SDT using the secure key. The second SDT is performed using the UL grant while the UE is in the RRC_Inactive state.

Small data transmission (SDT) procedures and failure recovery during an inactive state

A next generation NodeB (gNB) implements a radio access network (RAN) convergence functionality for new radio (NR) and wireless local area network (WLAN) access, the gNB further implementing a split architecture comprising a central unit (CU) and a distributed unit (DU) for each of the NR access and WLAN access. The gNB receives a data packet for transmission to a user equipment (UE) implementing the RAN convergence functionality, the data packet comprising one of a control plane (CP) packet or a user plane (UP) packet. The gNB splits the data packet via a convergence layer residing on the NR CU or a convergence layer residing on the WLAN CU and transmits the split data packet over the NR access and the WLAN access.

This disclosure describes systems, methods, and devices related to service function chaining in wireless networks. A communications system may include a communication control function to select one or multiple communication service functions associated with establishing service function chaining (SFC) services for telecommunications; a service orchestration and chaining function (SOCF) to establish the SFC services; and a service orchestration exposure function (SOEF) to expose the SFC services to an application function (AF) of the system.

Enhanced service function chaining in next generation cellular networks

Some embodiments of this disclosure include apparatuses and methods for sidelink connection establishment design to support unicast and groupcast communication for NR V2X in a wireless communication system. The apparatuses and methods include at least generating an announcement of support for a unicast or a groupcast communication for a vehicle-to-everything (V2X) service, generating one or more connection establishment request messages for a secure link establishment to a second UE, to support a V2X communication to enable the V2X service, where the one or more connection establishment request message includes: a first connection establishment request message that is transmitted over a PC5-S interface, and a second connection establishment request message that is transmitted over a PC5-RRC interface. The apparatuses and methods further include at least processing a response message from the second UE that accepts or rejects the connection establishment request message for the secure link establishment.

Methods for simultaneous support of resource selection modes and configuration mechanisms for NR V2X sidelink

Methods and systems are provided to indicate assistance information for radio access technologies to support interface selection for New Radio (NR) Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) processes. An upper layer entity exchanges information with lower layer entity while the upper layer can continue to use the existing interface for V2X transmission until it is not able to use the current interface. The upper layer can be a V2X layer and the lower layer can be an Access Stratum (AS) layer. The upper layer can request availability information from the lower layer for other applicable interfaces. The upper layer then instructs the lower layer to provide assistance information for one or more applicable interface(s), depending on whether mapped to the ongoing service. In providing availability information, the lower layer can continuously measure criteria, such as channel conditions, to determine the availability of relevant interfaces and indicate the availability information to the upper layer.

Assistance information indication for rat and interface selection for new radio vehicle-to-everything (V2X)

This disclosure relates to embodiments New Radio (NR) vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication. Some of embodiments generate system information block (SIB) messages having configurations for V2X communication modes, and transmit the SIB messages to a user equipment (UE). V2X communication modes include unicast, groupcast and broadcast modes. An example configuration includes a sidelink communication using a V2X communication mode.

A method for unicast communication over sidelink includes transmitting a direct communication request message from a source user equipment (UE) to one or more destination UEs. The context information of the at least one UE is stored in association with an ID pair comprising the destination sidelink ID and a source sidelink ID.

A service device (e.g., a user equipment (UE), or other network component) can operate to generate sidelink communications with peer UE vehicle-to-vehicle devices based on PC5 channel to enable a peer-to-peer communication as part of PC5 vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications. An admission control scheme or a congestion control scheme can be enabled by determining a configured mapping based on various criteria, including a priority of V2X services, V2X packet Quality of Service (QoS) indications per packet, or other criteria. A UE can determine whether a packet is authorized via the sidelink channel based on the configured mapping.

Sidelink admission control mechanisms for new radio systems

An apparatus of a first user equipment (UE) comprises one or more baseband processors to generate a message for a second UE to configure a New Radio (NR) vehicle-to-everything (V2X) link between the first UE and the second UE, wherein the message includes a Quality of Service (QoS) metric to encode a plurality of QoS parameters for the NR V2X link, and to encode a packet for the second UE according to the QoS parameter. QoS management aspects for NR sidelink to support advanced V2X use cases

An apparatus and system to enable dynamic offloading and execution of compute tasks are described. In split CU-DU RAN architectures, the CU-CP is connected with multiple compute control functions (CF) and service functions (SF) that have different computing hardware/software capabilities. Different architectures depend on whether the SF is collocated with the CU-UP, the CU-UP and SF only serve compute messages, a compute message is supplied directly to the CU-UP or also traverses the CU-CP. In response to reception from a UE of a compute message containing data for computation being sent to the CU-CP through the DU, the CU-CP sends the data to the SF with identifiers and sends the result to the UE.
