A refrigerator and a method for controlling the same may be provided. The refrigerator includes a compressor, a condenser condensing the refrigerant compressed in the compressor, a refrigerant tube for guiding the refrigerant condensed in the condenser, a flow adjustment part coupled to the refrigerant tube to divide the refrigerant into a plurality of refrigerant passages, a plurality of expansion devices respectively disposed in the plurality of refrigerant passages to decompress the refrigerant condensed in the condenser, a plurality of evaporators evaporating the refrigerant decompressed in the plurality of expansion devices, and a supercooling heat exchanger disposed at an outlet-side of the condenser to supercool the refrigerant. The refrigerant supercooled in the supercooling heat exchanger may be introduced into the flow adjustment part.

The refrigerator includes a main body including a refrigerating compartment and a freezing compartment, a machine room defined in a lower portion of the main body and in which a base is disposed, a compressor placed on the base to compress a refrigerant, a condenser placed on the base, the condenser being disposed at one side of the compressor, a valve device into which the refrigerant condensed in the condenser is introduced, the valve device including a plurality of discharge parts for discharging the refrigerant, a plurality of expansion devices connected to the plurality of discharge parts, and a plurality of evaporators including a first evaporator and a second evaporator which are connected to the plurality of expansion devices. The valve device is disposed inclined at a set angle toward one discharge part of the plurality of discharge parts with respect to a virtual line that is perpendicular to the base.

Provided are a refrigerator and a method of controlling the refrigerator. The method includes driving a refrigerating cycle that includes a first evaporator and a second evaporator by activating a compressor and simultaneously supplying cold air to a refrigerator compartment and a freezer compartment by supplying refrigerant to the first and second evaporators according to the driving of the refrigerating cycle. The method may further include preventing the refrigerant from being introduced into the second evaporator by more than a first prescribed amount by increasing, for a first prescribed amount of time, a flow rate of the refrigerant supplied to the first evaporator; and preventing the refrigerant from being introduced into the first evaporator by more than a second prescribed amount by increasing, for a second prescribed amount of time, a flow rate of the refrigerant supplied to the second evaporator.

Refrigerator and control method thereof

A refrigerator may include a body having a freezing chamber and a refrigeration chamber, a cooling circuit for cooling the freezing chamber and the refrigeration chamber, and a power source for supplying power to the cooling circuit. The refrigerator may further include a thermosyphon provided between the freezing chamber and refrigerating chamber. A control circuit may be connected to the thermosyphon to control a flow of refrigerant in the thermosyphon. The control circuit may include a valve provided on a circulation path of the thermosyphon, a electrical power storage device connected between the power source and the valve, and a switching circuit provided between the valve and the electrical power storage device. When the power source does not supply power to the cooling circuit, the control circuit may operate the thermosyphon using power stored in the electrical power storage device.

Refrigerator, thermosyphon, and solenoid valve and method for controlling the same

The refrigerator includes a compressor compressing a refrigerant, a condenser condensing the refrigerant compressed in the compressor, and a dryer in which the refrigerant condensed in the condenser is introduced. The dryer removes impurities or moisture of the refrigerant. A flow adjustment part is provided on an outlet-side of the dryer to switch or control a flow direction of the refrigerant. A plurality of evaporators is connected to the flow adjustment part, and the plurality of evaporators includes a first evaporator and a second evaporator. A first refrigerant passage extends from the flow adjustment part to the first evaporator, and a second refrigerant passage extends from the flow adjustment part to the second evaporator. A guide tube extends from the dryer to one side of at least one evaporator of the plurality of evaporators to guide the refrigerant to be cooled.

A refrigerator is provided that may include at least one compressor that compresses a refrigerant, a condenser that condenses the refrigerant compressed in the at least one compressor, a refrigerant tube that guides the refrigerant condensed in the condenser, a plurality of evaporation passages, in which expansion devices may be respectively disposed, the plurality of evaporation passages branching from the refrigerant tube, a flow adjuster disposed in the refrigerant tube to supply the refrigerant into at least one evaporation passage of the plurality of evaporation passages, a plurality of evaporators, respectively, connected to the plurality of evaporation passages to evaporate the refrigerant decompressed in the plurality of expansion devices, and a liquid refrigerant supply device disposed at an outlet-side of the condenser to separate a liquid refrigerant of the refrigerant heat-exchanged in the condenser, thereby supplying the liquid refrigerant into the flow adjuster.

A refrigerator is disclosed herein. The refrigerator may include a compressor to compress a refrigerant, a condenser to condense the refrigerant passed through the compressor, a capillary tube that lowers a temperature and pressure of the refrigerant passed through the condenser, an evaporator to evaporate the refrigerant passed through the capillary tube, a thermal storage device for auxiliary cooling that undergoes heat exchange with the refrigerant to store thermal energy, an energy management device that receives electric rate information, and a controller configured to control the compressor based on the electric rate information received at the energy management device. The controller may control an operation of the thermal storage device to provide auxiliary cooling for the refrigerator when the compressor is not operational or when electric rates are relatively high.

A refrigerator having an auxiliary cooling device is disclosed. The refrigerator may include a cabinet that includes a storage compartment to preserve food and a pipe for refrigerant arranged in the storage compartment to cool the storage compartment. a phase change material may provide auxiliary cooling for the storage compartment when the pipe is not operational. An enclosure for the phase change material may be provided around the pipe. The pipe may have a serpentine shape and the enclosure may be formed of a flexible material and shaped to corresponding to a shape of the pipe.
