A display substrate has first and second conductive layers separated from one another by an insulation layer. The first and second conductive layers are used to integrally form on the display substrate, pixel units in a relatively central display area of the substrate and integrated gate driving circuitry as well as associated wirings thereof in one or more peripheral areas. The first and second conductive layers are covered by a first protection layer made of a first electrically insulative material. A second and supplementing protection layer is provided on top of the first protection layer. The supplementing protection layer (buffer layer) is formed of a material different from that of the first protection layer so as to provide supplemental resistance against corrosive chemical agents and supplemental resistance against formation of cracks. In one class of embodiments, the supplementing protection layer is made of a same material as used form at least one of an alignment layer, sealing layer and spacer layer of the display substrate.

Display substrate, method of manufacturing the same and display device having the same

Capacitively actuated touch sensor units are integrated between subpixel light emitters of a liquid crystal display panel. In one embodiment, a sensor unit is monolithically integrated on a same substrate as are a plurality of associated subpixel units and the sensor unit includes a variable capacitor and a reference capacitor connected to define a voltage splitting circuit having a split voltage generating node. The sensor unit also includes a sensing transistor operatively coupled to the split voltage generating node and a voltage resetting transistor operatively coupled to the split voltage generating node. In one embodiment, one plate of the variable capacitor is defined by a touchwise flexed portion of a common electrode of the display and an opposed plate is defined by a spaced apart facing electrode provided on a TFT array substrate of the liquid crystal display.

Liquid crystal display panel having integrated pressure sensing units

A liquid crystal display including: a first substrate including a pixel area including a first subpixel area and a second subpixel area; a first subpixel electrode positioned in the first subpixel area and a second subpixel electrode positioned in the second subpixel area; an insulating layer formed on the first and second subpixel electrodes; a third subpixel electrode positioned in the first subpixel area and overlapping the first subpixel electrode; a fourth subpixel electrode positioned in the second subpixel area and overlapping the second subpixel electrode; a second substrate facing the first substrate; and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The first and fourth subpixel electrodes are connected to a first thin film transistor, and the second and third subpixel electrodes are connected to a second thin film transistor.

A display device includes; a first touch sensor, a second touch sensor disposed in proximity to the first touch sensor, a shade located on the second touch sensor wherein the shade controls intensity of incident light to the second touch sensor so that the second touch sensor receives a different intensity than the first touch sensor, and a reader which receives a first signal and a second signal from the first touch sensor and the second touch sensor, respectively and which analyzes the first signal and the second signal.

Display device including a touch sensor

A display apparatus includes a plurality of pixels. Each pixel includes a first sub-pixel that is charged with a data signal corresponding to an input gray-scale, in response to a gate signal, and a second sub-pixel that is charged with the data signal in response to the gate signal. A boost capacitor is disposed between the first and second sub-pixels. The boost capacitor increases the voltage of the signal charged in the first sub-pixel and decreases the voltage of the signal charged in the second sub-pixel. Each pixel further includes an initializing device to initialize a first electrode of the boost capacitor and a switching device to change an electric potential of the first electrode of the boost capacitor.

Display apparatus

A method of processing three-dimensional (3D) stereoscopic image data is provided that includes comparing the polarity of image data of a present frame with the polarity of image data of a previous frame. The image data of the present frame are compensated according to the result of the comparison. The image data of the present frame is compensated to generate first compensation data, when the polarity of the image data of the present frame is opposite to the polarity of the image data of the previous frame, with respect a reference voltage.

Method of processing three-dimensional stereoscopic image data and display apparatus for performing the same

A display substrate includes a gate line, a data line and a pixel electrode. The gate line is extended in a first direction on a base substrate. The data line is extended in a second direction crossing to the first direction. The pixel electrode is disposed on a pixel area of the base substrate. The pixel electrode includes a first sub-electrode and a second sub-electrode spaced apart by an opening portion, and receives a voltage having a same polarity. The opening portion includes a straight line portion extended in the first direction, a diagonal line portion extended in a third direction crossing the first and second directions, and a protrusion portion disposed in a length direction of the straight line portion at a portion of the pixel electrode where the straight line portion and the diagonal line portion meet.

A touch screen display includes; a first substrate, a lower sensor electrode disposed on the first substrate, a second substrate disposed substantially opposite to the first substrate, a sensor spacer disposed on the second substrate and aligned with the lower sensor electrode, a common electrode disposed on the second substrate, an upper sensor electrode disposed on the sensor spacer and connected to the common electrode, and a cutout disposed at an edge of the upper sensor electrode, wherein when touch pressure is applied to the first or second substrate, a change in capacitance is generated due to a change in a distance between the lower sensor electrode and the upper sensor electrode at a touch position, such that the touch position is detected on the basis of the change in capacitance.
