Apparatus and method for reproducing handwritten message by using handwriting data

A method and an apparatus for recognizing characters using an image are provided. A camera is activated according to a character recognition request and a preview mode is set for displaying an image photographed through the camera in real time. An auto focus of the camera is controlled and an image having a predetermined level of clarity is obtained for character recognition from the images obtained in the preview mode. The image for character recognition is character-recognition-processed so as to extract recognition result data. A final recognition character row is drawn that excludes non-character data from the recognition result data. A first word is combined including at least one character of the final recognition character row and a predetermined maximum number of characters. A dictionary database that stores dictionary information on various languages using the first word is searched, so as to provide the user with the corresponding word.

Method and apparatus for recognizing characters

Groups of skin color blocks corresponding to a hand are detected from among image frames output from a camera. A motion is detected among the groups of skin color blocks. The application is controlled to display a previous picture or a next picture in the sequence of pictures on the display according to the direction information.

A method for transmitting and receiving a handwritten message having time information includes generating one or more codes using handwritten message information which is sequentially input by a user, converting the handwritten message information and the one or more codes into one image and transmitting the converted image, confirming whether a received image includes the one or more codes, and if the received image includes the one or more codes, sequentially reproducing the contents of the handwritten message according to an input order of the contents of the handwritten message by analyzing the one or more codes.

A method for reproducing a handwritten message using handwriting data, the method including receiving an input of the handwritten message and generating handwriting data including position information and time information of the handwritten message and a still image using the position information, encoding a handwriting image including the handwriting data in the still image and transmitting the encoded handwriting image through the still image, receiving and decoding the handwriting image, extracting the handwriting data included in the decoded handwriting image, and sequentially reproducing the handwritten message according to an order of input of the handwritten message using the extracted handwriting data.
