A variable capacity type rotary compressor and a cooling apparatus having the same, and an operation method thereof are provided. In the variable capacity type rotary compressor and the cooling apparatus having the same, a discharge pressure is supplied to a rear side of a second vane disposed in the compressor after the discharge pressure is higher than a reference pressure, so that the compressor is switched from a saving mode into a power mode. The second vane is press-contacted with a second rolling piston with fast and accurately moving without vibration, resulting in preventing beforehand noise occurrence or efficiency degradation due to the vibration of the second vane when the compressor or the cooling apparatus having the compressor is operated in the power mode.

An apparatus and method for controlling an operation of a compressor are disclosed to enhance a compressor efficiency in each operation mode in operating a compressor in a power mode or power saving mode according to an external load. The apparatus for controlling an operation of a compressor, including: a controller that generates a control signal to select an operation mode of the compressor according to an operation load of the compressor; a compressor motor that includes a main coil and a sub-coil and is driven in one of a plurality of operation modes according to a control signal of the controller; and a power supply unit that applies power via capacitors each having a different capacitance to the sub-coil of the compressor motor according to a control signal of the controller.

Apparatus and method for controlling operation of compressor

Disclosed is a rotary compressor in which a connecting protrusion is formed at an inner circumferential surface of a vane chamber in which a connection tube is inserted, so as to increase a sealing area between the connection hole and the connection tube, and the size of the connection hole is definitely designated so as to prevent the deformation of the cylinder when press-fitting the connection tube into the connection hole, whereby an amount of leaked refrigerant from the vane chamber can remarkably be reduced and accordingly a fast and accurate mode switching of the vane can be achieved, thereby improving the performance of the compressor and preventing noise caused by vibration of the vane in advance.

A variable capacity type rotary compressor, in which a refrigerant sucked in via one suction pipe can be alternately sucked into each compression space via a communication passage between cylinders so as to reduce a number of components and a number of assembly processes, thereby reducing fabrication costs. A refrigerant within an idling cylinder is prevented from flowing back into another cylinder so as to improve performance of the compressor. 2 stage rotary compressor

A 2 stage rotary compressor is provided that includes a hermetic container that defines an outward appearance of the compressor; a 2 stage compression assembly provided in the hermetic container, wherein a low pressure cylinder, a middle plate, and a high pressure cylinder are successively stacked from any one of upper and lower portions; and first discharge port that discharges refrigerant compressed in the low pressure cylinder, and having an inner volume equivalent to 0.5% to 2.5% of an inner volume of the low pressure cylinder. A valve is installed on or under the discharge port. When the valve is opened, compressed refrigerant is discharged through the discharge port. When the valve is closed, refrigerant remains in the discharge port as much as the volume of the discharge port. Accordingly, refrigerant remaining in the discharge port is re-expanded in the cylinder, to thereby cause a compression loss. Moreover, in a case in which the volume of the discharge port is excessively small, a resistance occurs in a refrigerant passage. As a result, the volume of the discharge port should he appropriately restricted.

The present invention provides a 2 stage rotary compressor () including a hermetic container (), a 2 stage compression assembly provided in the hermetic container, wherein a low pressure compression assembly (), a middle plate () and a high pressure compression assembly () are successively stacked from any one of upper and lower portions, a first discharge port () for discharging middle pressure refrigerant compressed in the low pressure compression assembly () a second discharge port () for discharging high pressure refrigerant compressed in the high pressure compression assembly () and a third discharge port () positioned at any one of the upper and lower portions of the 2 stage compression assembly to discharge high pressure refrigerant compressed in the 2 stage compression assembly to the hermetic container (), wherein an area of the third discharge port () is larger than 0.5 times of an area of the first discharge port and smaller than 1.0 times thereof. As a volume flow of refrigerant compressed in the low pressure compression assembly () determines a volume flow of refrigerant compressed in the entire 2 stage compression assembly, a size of the third discharge port discharging refrigerant compressed in the 2 stage compression assembly is preferably optimized at a ratio with respect to a size of the first discharge port (). Therefore, the size of the third discharge port () can be optimized to suppress noise of the compressor.

A variable capacity rotary compressor includes a rolling piston eccentrically rotated in the compression space of the cylinder assembly, and a vane coming in contact with the rolling piston. A vane restricting device restricts the vane by applying a pressure onto a side face of the vane, where a sectional area A of a passage through which the restriction pressure is applied to the side face of the vane is formed so as not to be larger than a vane area B of the vane to which the restriction pressure is applied through a passage. The passage includes a first passage for connecting an inner space of the casing to a vane slot which is provided in the cylinder assembly and has the vane slidably inserted therein, and a second passage for connecting the vane slot to an inlet which is connected to the suction chamber of the cylinder assembly.

A capacity varying type rotary compressor and a refrigeration system having the same are provided. The capacity varying type rotary compressor includes a casing that contains a certain amount of oil and maintains a discharge pressure state; a motor installed in the casing that generates a driving force; one or more cylinder assembly fixed in the casing, having a compression space that compresses a refrigerant by a rolling piston that performs an orbit motion and a vane that performs a linear motion by contacting the rolling piston, and having a vane pressure chamber formed at a rear side of the vane that implements a normal driving as the vane contacts the rolling piston or a saving driving as the vane is separated from the rolling piston; and a mode switching device that selectively supplies a suction pressure or a discharge pressure to the vane pressure chamber of the cylinder assembly according to a driving mode.

Capacity varying type rotary compressor and refrigeration system having the same

A capacity varying rotary compressor is provided. The compressor includes a casing that maintains a discharge pressure state, a motor installed in the casing that generates a driving force, one or more cylinder assemblies provided in the casing to compress refrigerant with a rolling piston and a vane. The rolling piston is eccentrically coupled to a rotation shaft of the motor to perform a linear motion, and a vane restricting device restricts or releases the vane from the rolling piston according to a difference in pressures applied to the vane. A structure of the compressor may be simplified, resulting in reduced production costs and enhanced productivity. Further, as the vane is restricted by a pressure differential, reliability may be enhanced.

Capacity varying type rotary compressor

A capacity varying rotary compressor is provided. The compressor includes a cylinder mounted in a casing, and a vane pressure chamber provided at a rear side of a vane that divides an inner space of the cylinder into a suction chamber and a compression chamber. A pressure controlling unit supplies a discharge pressure or a suction pressure to the vane pressure chamber to thereby restrict or release a motion of the vane. A pressure leakage preventing unit couples the cylinder and bearings positioned at opposite sides of the cylinder to form the vane pressure chamber. A capacity to compress and discharge a refrigerant may be varied according to a load, thereby reducing power consumption of the compressor and simplifying assembly. Furthermore, pressure leakage from the vane pressure chamber may be prevented, thereby enhancing a capacity varying function.

A muffler for a hermetic rotary compressor including a muffler body forming a plurality of noise reducing spaces in which refrigerant gas flows; a discharge port formed on the muffler body so as to be located on the nose reducing spaces side; and a guide cover coupled to an inner wall of the muffler body in radial direction for guiding the refrigerant gas flowing in the noise reducing spaces to be discharged to the discharge port, and therefore the noise generated during the discharge of the compressed refrigerant gas to inside a sealed chamber, and a flow resistance for the discharged refrigerant gas is reduced, whereby the electric power consumption is reduced, and the structure and assembling processes can be simplified.
