A display device includes a display panel including a display area for displaying an image and a non-display area adjacent to the display area, a polarizing plate positioned on the display panel and including a polarizing layer for polarizing light that passes through the polarizing layer, and a light shielding layer positioned between the display panel and the polarizing plate. The light shielding layer is formed at an edge of the display panel to correspond to the non-display area.

A backlight assembly and a liquid crystal display device including the backlight assembly are disclosed. In one embodiment, the backlight assembly includes a light guide plate configured to guide light, emitted from a light source, to a liquid crystal display panel and an optical sheet disposed on an upper surface of the light guide plate and configured to diffuse and collimate the light. The backlight assembly further includes a frame configured to support the liquid crystal display panel and the light guide plate and a shielding tape connected to an upper surface of the frame and extending from the frame to one side of the optical sheet.

A display device is disclosed. In one embodiment, the display device includes a display panel displaying an image and a bottom chassis including a bottom portion where the display panel is mounted and a plurality of side walls connected with the bottom portion and facing a side surface of the display panel. At least two of the side walls include a base side wall and a reinforcing side wall integrally formed with the base side wall by a connection portion. The connection portion and the reinforcing side wall are bent from the base side wall and thus partially overlap the base side wall.

A touch screen module which includes an LCD panel working as a touch screen, a protector window disposed over the LCD panel, and an adhesive to affix the protector window to the LCD panel. The LCD panel may be a hybrid Touch Screen Pad (hTSP) type touch screen and have a first substrate comprising a first surface on which a plurality of switching elements are formed, a second substrate comprising a second surface that faces the first surface, and liquid crystal material disposed between the first surface and the second surface. The protector window may have a plurality of pressing patterns on a third surface facing the second substrate. In operation, pressure from a touch applied to the protector window engages the pressing patterns against the second substrate, transferring touch pressure to the second substrate as well.

A light guiding plate to enhance uniformity of brightness and a backlight assembly and a display device having the same in one or more embodiments. In one embodiment, the light guiding plate includes a plurality of the linear shaped prisms on a back surface thereof, and the linear shaped prisms are omitted partially at the incident portion of the light guiding plate such that a non-prism area, connection area, and prism area are formed in stated order from the incident portion end on the back surface of the light guiding plate. Therefore, the display device having the light guiding plate is adapted to increase a uniformity of brightness of the edge type backlight, and the display quality can be improved.

A backlight assembly includes a light source, a light-guide plate, a mold frame and a bottom chassis. The mold frame includes a first bottom portion, a protrusion on a first surface of the first bottom portion and a first sidewall portion on a second surface of the first bottom portion opposite to the first surface of the first bottom portion and facing the light guide plate. The bottom chassis includes a second bottom portion having a hole to receive the protrusion of the first bottom portion, and a second sidewall portion facing the light guide plate. A cross sectional area of a first opening of the hole corresponding to an inner surface of the bottom chassis and contacting the first surface of mold frame is different than a cross sectional area of a second opening of the hole corresponding to an outer surface of the bottom chassis.

A light-guide plate includes a body for guiding incident light, and at least an inserting portion penetrating a portion of the body, wherein at least a light source for providing the light-guide plate with the light is inserted into the inserting portion. The inserting portion can be formed at an end portion of the body. A side surface of the body can be recessed to form the inserting portion. A light-diffusing pattern can be formed at a side surface of the inserting portion, and the side surface of the inserting portion is substantially parallel with the side surface of the body.
