A display apparatus includes a plurality of pixels. Each pixel includes a first sub-pixel that is charged with a data signal corresponding to an input gray-scale, in response to a gate signal, and a second sub-pixel that is charged with the data signal in response to the gate signal. A boost capacitor is disposed between the first and second sub-pixels. The boost capacitor increases the voltage of the signal charged in the first sub-pixel and decreases the voltage of the signal charged in the second sub-pixel. Each pixel further includes an initializing device to initialize a first electrode of the boost capacitor and a switching device to change an electric potential of the first electrode of the boost capacitor.

A display substrate and a display device are provided. The display substrate includes a substrate having a shielding area and a pixel area, and a black matrix layer disposed in the shielding area of the substrate and having a column spacer and a peripheral portion other than the column spacer, wherein an area of the peripheral portion of the black matrix layer relative to unit pixel area is approximately 11% or less.

Display substrate and display device including the same

A thin-film transistor (TFT) substrate includes a semiconductor pattern, a conductive pattern, a first wiring pattern, an insulation pattern and a second wiring pattern. The semiconductor pattern is formed on a substrate. The conductive pattern is formed as a layer identical to the semiconductor pattern on the substrate. The first wiring pattern is formed on the semiconductor pattern. The first wiring pattern includes a source electrode and a drain electrode spaced apart from the source electrode. The insulation pattern is formed on the substrate having the first wiring pattern to cover the first wiring pattern. The second wiring pattern is formed on the insulation pattern. The second wiring pattern includes a gate electrode formed on the source and drain electrodes. Therefore, a TFT substrate is manufactured using two or three masks, so that manufacturing costs may be decreased.

Thin-film transistor substrate and method of manufacturing the same

A liquid crystal display according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes: a pixel electrode including a first subpixel electrode and a second subpixel electrode with a gap therebetween; a common electrode facing the pixel electrode; and a liquid crystal layer formed between the pixel electrode and the common electrode, and including a plurality of liquid crystal molecules, wherein the first and second subpixel electrodes include a plurality of minute branches, the first and second subpixel electrodes include a plurality of subregions having different length directions of the minute branches, and the width of the minute branches is wider than an interval between the neighboring minute branches.

A liquid crystal display according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes: a first substrate; a first signal line disposed on the first substrate, a thin film transistor connected with the first signal line, a first color filter and a second color filter disposed on the first substrate; a colored member disposed on the first color filter and the second color filter; and a pixel electrode disposed on the first color filter and the second color filter and the colored member, wherein the first color filter and the second color filter are partially overlapped with each other and the height of the colored member disposed at the overlap between the first color filter and the second color filter is greater than the height of the colored member disposed not at the overlap.

A liquid crystal display (LCD) device and a method of fabricating the same includes a gate line arranged in one direction, a data line arranged in a perpendicular direction to the gate line, a pixel electrode arranged in a pixel region defined by the gate and data lines and having a diagonal side adjacent to a crossing portion of the gate and data lines, and a light blocking pattern arranged in a parallel direction with respect to the diagonal side of the pixel electrode and preventing light leakage.

Liquid crystal display device and method of fabricating the same

Electric power is applied to a static charge dissipating line to apply a pixel voltage to a pixel electrode. A common voltage is applied to a common electrode. The common voltage is applied to the common electrode through a shorting pad formed on the lower substrate, or a probe is contacted to the common electrode to apply the common voltage to the common electrode. A liquid crystal layer is exposed to light while an electric field is formed between the pixel electrode and the common electrode, so that a cured reactive mesogen (RM) layer is formed on a surface of an alignment layer to pretilt liquid crystal molecules. A manner of applying electric power to the pixel electrode or the common electrode is facilitated and the pixel voltage or the common voltage may be uniformly applied. Therefore, the quality of a display panel may be improved.

A liquid crystal display includes a first insulating substrate including a display area and a peripheral area, a display area signal line in the display area of the first insulating substrate. a peripheral area signal line in the peripheral area of the first insulating substrate, a driving circuit portion in the peripheral area of the first insulating substrate, receiving an input signal through the peripheral area signal line, and thereby generating an output signal to supply to the display area signal line, a second insulating substrate facing the first insulating substrate and having a common electrode, a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first insulating substrate and the second insulating substrate, and a first sealant disposed between the first insulating substrate and the second insulating substrate and sealing the liquid crystal layer, wherein the common electrode is disposed on a whole surface of the second insulating substrate, and the first sealant is closer to the display area than the peripheral area signal line.

Liquid crystal display and method thereof

A display substrate includes a transistor layer, a plurality of color filters, a first blocking member, a supporting member, a circuit part, a second blocking member and a protruding member. The first blocking member is disposed between different color filters. The supporting member maintains a distance between a base substrate and a substrate facing the base substrate. A circuit part is disposed in a peripheral area surrounding a display area, and the circuit part includes a metal pattern and a contact electrode in contact with the metal pattern. The second blocking member includes substantially the same material as the first blocking member and the second blocking member covers the circuit part. The protruding member includes substantially the same material as the second blocking member, and is integrally formed with the second blocking member.

Display substrate and a method of manufacturing the same

An array substrate includes a substrate including a display area and a peripheral area surrounding the display area, a transistor layer formed in the display area of the substrate and electrically connected to a gate line and a data line, a color filter formed in a pixel region on the transistor layer, a first light blocking member disposed between adjacent color filters, a first transparent member formed on the first light blocking member to cover the first light blocking member, a first color pattern formed in a peripheral area of the substrate and including substantially the same material as the color filter, and a second transparent member including substantially the same material as the first transparent member. The second transparent member is disposed in the peripheral area of the substrate to cover the first color pattern.

Array substrate and method of manufacturing the same

A thin film transistor array panel and a method of its manufacture are presented. The thin film transistor array panel according to an embodiment includes a substrate, a gate line extending in a first direction on the substrate, a data line extending in a second direction on the substrate and intersecting and insulated from the gate line, a thin film transistor including a control terminal connected to the gate line, an input terminal connected to the data line and an output terminal, a color filter formed on the thin film transistor, a light blocking member formed on the thin film transistor, defining the space for storing the color filter, and including a first protection portion surrounding at least the region of the output terminal of the thin film transistor, and a pixel electrode formed on the light blocking member and the color filter and contacting the region of the output terminal surrounded by the first protection portion of the light blocking member.

Thin film transistor array panel and method for manufacturing the same

A display substrate includes a gate pad part, a source pad part, a first static dissipative part, and a first test part. A gate pad part is formed on one terminal of each of a plurality of gate lines and transfers signals to the gate lines. A source pad part is formed on one terminal of each of a plurality of source lines and transfers signals to the source lines. A first static dissipative part disperses static charge that flows into the source pad part. A first test part receives a first test signal, makes electrical contact with the first static dissipative part, and transfers the first test signal to the source lines through the first static dissipative part. A display apparatus including the display substrate transmits first test signals that are uniformly applied to source lines through a first test part, so defects are easily detected through a gross test.

Display substrate and apparatus and method for testing display panel having the same

In a light transmitting, color image display unit, a top surface of a black matrix partition wall exhibits lyophobicity relative to in-solution pigment particles while sidewall surfaces of the black matrix exhibit lyophilicity relative to in-solution pigment particles. This allows the pigment containing solutions to abut without repulsion against the sidewall surfaces. Consequently, it is possible to prevent color filter solutions deposited through an inkjet deposition process from overflowing over the lyophobic partition wall tops into adjacent pixel regions and it is also possible to conformably define color filters of consistent thickness between the black matrix partition walls.
