An electromagnetic wave generator includes a 2DEG plate, a first resistor, a second resistor, a source and a floating plate and a dielectric body. The 2DEG plate is configured to form a 2DEG channel. The source is disposed between the second resistor and a ground and configured to apply electric power to the 2DEG plate. Provided is a low voltage frequency synthesizer using a boosting method for a power supply voltage of a charge pump. The low voltage frequency synthesizer includes a phase/frequency detector (PFD) that receives and compares a reference frequency and a feedback frequency to output a comparison signal, a charge pump that receives the comparison signal to output a current corresponding to the comparison signal, a low-pass filter (LPF) that generates a voltage corresponding to the output current of the charge pump, a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) that receives the voltage of the LPF, amplifies the voltage to generate a boosting voltage, and outputs a frequency corresponding to the received voltage, and a DC converter that receives the boosting voltage of the VCO, converts the boosting voltage into a DC voltage, and applies the DC voltage as a power supply voltage of the charge pump. Since the supply voltage of the charge pump is provided from the LC-circuit-based VCO, the frequency synthesizer has superior characteristics such as a wide locking range, low phase noise, and the prevention of performance degradation caused by an external environment or process variations.

Provided is a burst mode optical receiver capable of accurately detecting an optical signal of minimum amplitude, by automatically controlling a gain of a pre-amplifier according to an amplitude of an input optical signal. The burst mode optical receiver can automatically control a gain of a pre-amplifier according to the amplitude of an input optical signal using an output signal of a first peak detector. In other words, when the input optical signal has a small amplitude that meets the receiving sensitivity of the burst mode optical receiver, the gain of the pre-amplifier automatically increases, thereby improving the receiving sensitivity of the burst mode optical receiver.

Disclosed is a heterodyne receiver for low noise and image frequency repression, comprising: a low noise amplifier for receiving an input signal from an antenna and amplifying the signal while reducing a noise figure of the input signal; and a frequency converter for receiving both the input signal outputted from the low noise amplifier and a local oscillation signal, filtering the signals to repress gain of the input signal at an image frequency band and increase gain of the input signal at a signal frequency band, and converting the frequency of the signals to the intermediate frequency band.

Provided is a burst mode optical receiver considering a characteristic of an extinction ratio of a received optical signal is provided. By using a peak detector considering a characteristic of an extinction ratio, top and bottom peak voltages of actual burst packets can be precisely detected while not being affected by a DC offset corresponding to an extinction ratio even though burst packets having a DC offset corresponding to the extinction ratio are received. Accordingly, waveform distortion of a signal output from the burst mode optical receiver can be minimized.

Disclosed is a quadrature VCO (voltage controlled oscillator) which comprises a first delay cell including a first switching transistor and a second switching transistor, the first delay cell outputting first and second in-phase signals with different phases; and a second delay cell including a third switching transistor and a fourth switching transistor, the second delay cell outputting first and second quadrature-phase signals with different phases. The first and second quadrature-phase signals are applied to back gates of the first and second switching transistors, and the first and second in-phase signals are applied to back gates of the fourth and third switching transistors.

A current-reusing bleeding mixer capable of providing a higher conversion gain, linearity and lower noise figure employing a field-effect transistor includes a first to a fourth transistor and a first and a second load element. The first transistor amplifies a radio frequency (RF) signal. The second and the third transistor, each connected to the first transistor, receive a balanced local oscillator (LO) signal to mix it with the RF signal. The first and the second load element are connected between a supply voltage source and the second transistor and between the supply voltage source and the third transistor, respectively. The fourth transistor, connected between the supply voltage source and the first transistor, amplifies the RF signal and bleeds a current from the supply voltage source.
