A mobile terminal and a method for controlling an application for a vehicle are provided. The mobile terminal includes an acceleration sensor configured to detect a motion of the mobile terminal, a magnetic sensor configured to detect a magnetic field, a first control unit configured to determine whether the detected motion and the detected magnetic field correspond to a pre-defined condition of entering a vehicle, and output a signal according to the determination, and a second control unit configured to execute the vehicle application based on the signal received from the first control unit.

An apparatus and method are provided for receiving and processing a control signal and/or a data signal through a short-range wireless communication. The wireless signal processing apparatus preferably includes a connection detection unit that detects a connection of a peripheral device, and a communication unit that receives the control signal and the data signal from a client device through the short-range wireless communication. A data processing unit sends the received data signal to the peripheral device, and a mode control unit for controlling the communication unit to send the received data signal to the data processing unit when the connection detection unit detects the connection of the peripheral device. The apparatus and method may be utilized for various purposes on the basis of the short-range wireless communication, depending on whether or not the peripheral device is connected.

Multi-mode short-range wireless signal processing apparatus and method

A portable terminal having a Bluetooth module and a Bluetooth communication method between the portable terminal and a device having a Bluetooth module are provided. The method includes determining whether the portable terminal receives a signal from the device in a call history viewing mode, during Bluetooth communication between the portable terminal and the device, wherein the signal is generated as a volume control key of the device is operated. The method also includes scrolling and displaying the call history, in the portable terminal, according to the received signal. The call history can be searched for in the portable terminal by using a volume control key of a headset or a hands-free accessory, which is linked to the portable terminal via Bluetooth communication, thereby providing users with a convenient mode of operation.

A mobile terminal capable of emergency message transmission using Bluetooth&#xae; technology is disclosed. The mobile terminal includes a memory unit for storing a recipient list and a pre-composed emergency message; an input unit for inputting a command of emergency message transmission; a Bluetooth&#xae; module for discovering Bluetooth&#xae;-enabled devices within Bluetooth&#xae; range and for extracting a Bluetooth&#xae; address of the discovered Bluetooth&#xae;-enabled device when a Bluetooth&#xae;-enabled device is discovered; a controller for inserting the extracted Bluetooth&#xae; address into the emergency message; and a communication unit for transmitting the emergency message to a mobile terminal associated with the stored recipient list in response to input of a command of emergency message transmission. As a result, an emergency message is transmitted to a proximate Bluetooth&#xae;-enabled device for immediate help to the user.
