An apparatus and method for remotely controlling household appliances connected to a home network. A power line and a network processor is installed in each household appliance, enabling a household appliance user to remotely control the appliances from a place outside of as well as inside a home. Information about all conditions of the household appliances can be displayed on a screen displayable household appliance so that the user can recognize the operations of the appliances even during spare moments. A low-price built-in server is installed in each household appliance to assign the corresponding appliance a unique IP address simply over the Internet to be controlled according to an external user control command. A home server is connected to each of the household appliances such that the corresponding appliance receives a control command, sent in transit by a user from a mobile terminal.

A system and method for controlling a plurality of home appliances provided in a building, wherein home appliance built-in communication modules are each adapted to convert information in an Ethernet standard format into that of a home appliance standard format and adapters are provided to connect the home appliance built-in communication modules to a phoneline network alliance (PNA) provided in the building to transmit and receive information therebetween. The home appliances can be controlled over a network using an existing telephone line. The adapters allow interconnection of the plurality of home appliances with no distance limitations.

System and method for controlling home appliances

A telephone-controlled home appliance system and a method for controlling the same are provided. Thus, a remote user can remotely control a plurality of home appliances inside of a home using a remote telephone. A telephone control module is contained in each of the home appliances to detect ringing signals received over a telephone line. If the number of the detected ringing signals is equal to a predetermined reference value, each home appliance automatically enters an off-hook state to make a call connection with the remote telephone. Even though a plurality of telephone jacks are commonly connected to the telephone line and the home appliances are in turn connected to respective telephone jacks, the user can access the respective home appliances from a remote site to simultaneously/individually control them. Therefore, the plurality of home appliances can be remotely controlled over the telephone line in a simple manner.

Telephone-controlled home appliance system and method for controlling the same

An air conditioner control system and method that uses a telephone network is provided. A remote electronic device is connected to a plurality of air conditioners through the telephone network to input a control command to each of the air conditioners. A control program is run in the remote electronic device to register profile information for the air conditioners. The air conditioners are configured to transmit and receive signals over there telephone network. The remote electronic device is configured to input control commands to some or all of the air conditioners on the basis of the registered profile information. A control command input by a remote user is automatically transmitted to a corresponding one of the air conditioners with reference to the registered profile information of the corresponding air conditioner.

Air conditioner control system using a telephone network and method for operating the same

An air conditioner control system and method uses a PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network). The system allows a remote control operator to control a plurality of air conditioners through the PSTN by providing receiving modules connected to the air conditioners which have unique IDs assigned thereto and which all use same telephone line. In an electronic device, a control program is driven to control and monitor the air conditioners. A transmitting module connected to the electronic device converts and codes a control command signal into a DTMF (Dual Tone Multi-Frequency) signal, and transmits the DTMF signal through the PSTN to a receiving module connected to a corresponding air conditioner, so that the air conditioner can be remotely controlled.
