Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI), Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) or AF/GF circuit breakers which may optionally have relatively small or compact bodies that have shaped neutral busbars and/or load terminals with an arm that extends through a window of a current transformer in a circuit breaker housing. The neutral busbar and/or load terminal can have a rigid or semi-rigid shaped body with a first segment that extends through the window of the current transformer and a second segment that extends behind the first segment about a printed circuit board. A plug-on, pigtail or bolt-on neutral can engage an electrical pad of the neutral busbar.

A multi-port split-phase power system that includes a control panel including a plurality of breakers, a multi-port converter including an AC port coupled to a second breaker, a DC port coupled to a DC energy source device, and galvanically isolated converters coupled to the AC port and DC port, where the AC port includes a first line, a second line, and a neutral and structured to supply, from the AC energy source device during islanded mode, at least one of 240V to the load device via the first line and the second line or 120V to the load device via the first line and the neutral, and an energy management system including a software for controlling the plurality of breakers, the energy management system structured to perform islanding, reconnection to the utility, and interlocking of the plurality of breakers during the islanding.

Multi-port split-phase power system

An adapter is for a metering assembly. The metering assembly includes an electrical switching apparatus and a socket assembly. The socket assembly has a plurality of jaw members. The adapter includes a base member and a plurality of electrical contacts each coupled to the base member and structured to be mechanically coupled and electrically connected to a corresponding one of the jaw members. Each of the electrical contacts is structured to be electrically connected to the electrical switching apparatus.

Metering assembly, adapter, and converting method therefor

Plug-on ground fault modules are configured with a housing and at least one ground fault terminal. The at least one ground fault terminal can be a rigid or semi-rigid member that is configured to slidably engage a circuit breaker terminal. The modules also include aground fault circuit coupled to the ground fault terminal and at least one printed circuit board in the housing with components of the ground fault circuit including at least one solenoid assembly coupled thereto with a respective magnetized or magnetic plunger member residing on or adjacent thereto, and at least one current transformer. The modules also include at least one collar assembly residing in the housing spaced apart from the solenoid assembly and plunger member that is arranged to be able to engage a lever in the circuit interrupter to delatch the circuit interrupter.

Ground fault modules and related circuit interrupters and methods

A method for obtaining operational data from a circuit breaker includes: releasably attaching an adapter to a circuit breaker; actuating a test button on the circuit breaker using the adapter; moving a handle of the circuit breaker to an on position; initiating output of a light signal from the circuit breaker that is representative of operational data of the circuit breaker in response to the actuating and moving steps; and receiving the light signal at the adapter.

Devices, systems, and methods for obtaining operational data from circuit breakers

An electronic overload current breaker supports arc-fault and ground-fault (AFGF) detection along with built-in shunt calibration (BISC&#x2122;). The breaker may include a current sensing shunt and a control circuit electrically coupled to the current sensing shunt. This control circuit is configured to calibrate the current sensing shunt in response to application of a calibration current to the breaker. The control circuit can: (i) determine a magnitude of the calibration current applied to the breaker, (ii) map the magnitude of the calibration current to a first one of a plurality of current ratings for the breaker, and (iii) set the breaker to monitor overload conditions at the first one of the plurality of current ratings. The plurality of current ratings for the breaker can be less than the magnitude of the calibration current.

An arc fault detection system includes a high frequency detector module structured to detect first spectral content of power having a frequency in a first frequency range, a number of arc fault circuit interrupters each having separable contacts, a low frequency detector module structured to detect second spectral content of power having a frequency in a second frequency range, a control unit structured to control the separable contacts to trip open, and an arc fault detection unit structured to detect an arc fault based on the detected first and second spectral content of the power and to cause the control unit to control the separable contacts to trip open in response to detecting the arc fault. A communication bus provides communication between the high frequency detector and the arc fault circuit interrupters and the first frequency range includes frequencies that are higher than frequencies in the second frequency range.

A circuit interrupter for protecting a protected circuit includes separable contacts, an operating mechanism structured to trip open the separable contacts, a current sensor structured to sense a current flowing through the protected circuit, a temperature sensor structured to sense a temperature of the protected circuit proximate the current sensor, and a processor configured to select a trip time based on the sensed current, to adjust the selected trip time based on the sensed temperature, and to cause the operating mechanism to trip open the separable contacts when the adjusted selected trip time is reached.

Plug-on neutral circuit breakers include a housing, a plug-on neutral clip with a crown held in the housing and with legs extending out from the housing and in communication with a biasing member that resides at least partially in the housing that allows the plug-on neutral clip to move between first and second positions associated with pre-installed and fully installed orientations.

A modular circuit breaker includes a module assembly coupled to a primary assembly. The primary assembly includes a primary housing, separable contacts disposed therein, a first terminal conductor electrically connected to one of the separable contacts, a conductive tab electrically connected to another one of the separable contacts and which extends outward from a first end of the primary housing, an operating mechanism disposed in the primary housing for selectively opening and closing the separable contacts, and a trip mechanism disposed in the primary housing cooperative with the operating mechanism to trip open the separable contacts. The module assembly includes a module housing having a second terminal conductor positioned therein and electrically connected to the conductive tab, a third terminal conductor structured to be electrically connected to a neutral conductor of a load, and a fourth terminal conductor structured to be coupled to a neutral bus.

Modular circuit breaker and method of assembling

A modular accessory system is structured to be mounted in a panel board including a housing assembly and a number of conductors with each conductor having a number of stabs extending therefrom. The modular accessory system includes an interface assembly structured to be selectively coupled to the panel board and a number of modules disposed on the interface assembly. Each module is structured to at least monitor or regulate one or more attributes of the panel board.
