The present invention provides methods and uses of neural cells differentiated from adult stem cells of the oral mucosa for cell therapy of neurological and psychiatric diseases and disorders. Culture of pluripotent autologous stem cells from oral mucosa

A method is described for inducing the formation of cementum and a periodontal ligament between a dental implant and bone by administering cementum attachment protein (CAP) together with a calcineurin inhibitor such as cyclosporin A (CSA). Also contemplated is an implant kit comprising a titanium or other biologically inert dental or orthopedic implant and a coating of CAP and a calcineurin inhibitor such as CSA. Furthermore, application of CAP and CSA to dental root surfaces can be used to induce the regeneration of a periodontal ligament during treatment for periodontal disease. A similar method for reattaching a fibrous structure, such as a tendon, ligament or joint capsule, to bone is described.

Combined use of cementum attachment protein and cyclosporin a for improved attachment of dental and orthopedic implants

The invention relates to implants, for use in human and in veterinary medicine. The novel implants form, after implantation, an integral structure with the surrounding tissues. The implants consist of a rigid core which is coated with a well adhering matrix, in which there are embedded collagen fibers, part of which protrude from the surface of said matrix. A wide variety of solid physiologically acceptable materials can be used. The matrix may optionally contain additives, such as fibronectin, platelet derived growth factor, bone morphogenic proteins, growth factors, vitamin D or hormones, or a combination of any of these.
