This document discusses, among other things, systems and methods for managing pain in a subject. A system may include one or more sensors configured to sense from the subject information corresponding to emotional reaction to pain, such as emotional expression. The emotional expression includes facial or vocal expression. A pain analyzer circuit may generate a pain score using signal metrics of facial or vocal expression extracted from the sensed information. The pain score may be output to a user or a process. The system may additionally include a neurostimulator that can adaptively control the delivery of pain therapy by automatically adjusting stimulation parameters based on the pain score.

In one aspect, the present disclosure is directed to methods of treating various conditions including bladder conditions in a patient, comprising: positioning at least one ablative element of an ablative device on or over an adventitial surface of the bladder; and using the ablative device to denervate bladder nerve fibers. In one aspect, the present disclosure is directed to a system and method for ablating tissue. The method may comprise, for example, aligning a needle of a medical device with the target tissue; piercing tissue adjacent to the target tissue with the needle; sliding into the target tissue a laser fiber moveably disposed within the needle, wherein the needle is hollow and the laser fiber includes a prism; and delivering laser energy through the laser fiber and prism.

In one aspect, the present disclosure is directed to a method for identifying a site with a patient for treatment. The method may include engaging a plurality electrodes with an interior wall of the patient at a plurality of locations.
