The invention relates to free-radical polymerization and free-radical cross-linking and more particularly provides a process of free-radical polymerization or cross-linking wherein at least one polymerizable monomer or at least one compound to be cross-linked is contacted in the presence of at least one selected organic peroxides, characterized in that the organic peroxide is prepared continuously by an ex situ process with the aid of a closed plate exchanger. In the process according to the invention, it's possible to introduce the above selected organic peroxide continuously during the polymerization or cross-linking reaction.

The invention relates to a supramolecular polymer obtained from the reaction of (i) an amine bearing a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic group: imidazolidone, trimethyleneurea or triazine, which is capable of associating by means of hydrogen bonds and (ii) at least one fatty acid monomer comprising at least one reactive function, a dimer of identical or different fatty acids and/or a trimer of identical or different fatty acids, or a derivative of said fatty acid(s) which is selected from a fatty acid ester, and a fatty acid chloride.

Semi-crystalline supramolecular polymers

A polymeric material from the styrene family comprises macromolecular chains grafted by nitrogen-containing heterocyclic groups; wherein the macromolecular chains comprise a polymeric backbone to which a grafted agent is attached by at least one covalent bond, the grafting agent comprises, in a single molecule, one or more associative groups capable of being bound by hydrogen bonds, and one or more reactive groups capable of forming covalent bonds with the polymeric backbone, at least one of the associative groups of the modifier is an imidazolidone heterocyclic ring. The mean number of imidazolidone groups to be inserted into the macromolecular chains is dependent both on the mean mass of said chains and on the final properties to be imparted to the material. Objects such as tubes, films, plates, stiffeners, bottles and containers can be made.

Styrene/anhydride polymeric material and graft having enhanced properties

The present invention relates to a salified copolymer that can be obtained by salification, in an aqueous medium, using at least one amine containing at least one nitrogenous heterocyclic group, of a copolymer obtained from at least one cyclic anhydride-based or carboxylic acid-based monomer and from at least one styrene-based monomer, such as a styrene/maleic anhydride (SMA) copolymer. It also relates to the process for producing this salified copolymer, to a composition containing same, and also to the use of this composition for surface-treating, in particular coating, sizing and finishing, paper or cardboard.

A polymeric material from the styrene family, consisting of macromolecular chains grafted by nitrogen-containing heterocyclic groups; wherein the macromolecular chains consist of a polymeric backbone to which a grafted agent is attached by at least one covalent bond, the grafting agent comprises, in a single molecule, one or more associative groups capable of being bound by hydrogen bonds, and one or more reactive groups capable of forming covalent bonds with the polymeric backbone, at least one of the associative groups of the modifier is an imidazolidone heterocyclic ring. Peroxyester preparation method

The invention relates to a process for the polymerization or copolymerization of at least one monomer which is polymerizable by the radical route in the presence of a stable free radical from the nitroxide family. The stable free radical is &bgr;-substituted and provides excellent control of polydispersity while ensuring a better rate of polymerization or copolymerization, if they are compared with the stable free radicals used in the prior art.
