An overspeed emergency brake system includes an overspeed detector magnet generating a brake actuation force and a kinematic constraint element guiding the movement of the magnet. The magnet and a kinematic constraint element in the brake system are arranged such that a linear brake actuation force is generated at a normal operating speed condition (i.e in a first position of the magnet with respect to the kinematic constraint element), due to the movement of the kinematic constraint element when guiding the magnet along a reaction surface and the kinematic constraint element converts the linear speed-force relationship into a nonlinear speed-force relationship in an overspeed condition (i.e a second position), while the magnet translates with respect to the kinematic constraint element generating a sharply increasing force for triggering the overspeed emergency brake.

In a moving magnet type linear motor including a stator with a plurality of coils placed in one direction and a mover with a permanent magnet opposed to the stator, a position detector detects the position of the mover. The position detector includes a magnetic body fixed to the mover. One or two or more coils are selected and a voltage is applied to the selected coil while a current or a voltage induced in a coil adjacent to the selected coil is measured, and the position of the magnetic body that changes in response to the position of the mover is determined based on the measured current or the measured voltage.

The moving magnet type linear motor according to the present invention comprises a stator comprising a plurality of coils arranged in a single direction and having a both ends support structure supporting both ends of the stator in a direction perpendicular to said single direction, a pair of movers comprising a plurality of permanent magnets arranged opposing the sides of the stator respectively and capable of relative movement in said single direction with respect to each other, and guidance mechanisms guiding both the movers independently and movably in said single direction, and one of the movers is connected to a load.

An elevator group supervisory control system for selecting the most suitable car among a plurality of elevators, when a hall call is made, to assign to the hall call, comprising: temporary assigning means for temporarily assigning the car by a conventional method such as a fuzzy group supervisory control based on group data representing states of the elevator system at the moment when a new hall call is made; and a neural net for receiving numerical values converted from group data including the result of judgment of the temporary assigning means and outputting an assignment fitness of each elevator. It decides the most suitable elevator from the output pattern of the neural net to assign to the hall call.
