Methods for customization of a user interface of a microprocessor controlled medical apparatus for extracorporal blood treatment are disclosed, whereby the medical apparatus comprises a software component driving the user interface on a touch screen of the medical apparatus, and the software component has a technical support and maintenance mode and a treatment mode. At least one target window is displayed on the touch screen during therapy in the treatment mode, and such target window shows at least data regarding measured and/or set values of the therapy, whereby at least the appearance of one target window is modified by a customization procedure that is performed within the target window in the treatment mode. The invention further relates to a medical apparatus for extracorporal blood treatment that uses the method.

Methods for setting mutually dependent parameters of a microprocessor controlled medical apparatus are disclosed. Mutually dependent parameters may be set by displaying mutually dependent parameter settings, displaying possible values for at least one parameter setting, whereby limits of the range of possible values is mutable and is automatically determined based on the current parameter settings, adjusting a parameter setting upon manual selection by an operator, automatically determining and displaying the value of at least one parameter setting depending on the parameter setting that is adjusted by the operator, whereby the determination of the dependent parameter setting is based on a stored relationship between parameter settings, implementing the set of adjusted parameter settings by actuating a batch setting acceptance operation, and operating the medical apparatus based on the set of adjusted parameter settings.

A blood treatment system including a computer with a program library containing data sets for the functional processes of blood treatment apparatus. The computer is used to generate data sets with the aid of a catalog of questions to be responded to interactively. In this manner, data sets can be generated corresponding to the individual requirements. The selecting of a data set can also be performed corresponding to the individual needs of the users and patients, respectively.

Blood treatment system

A dialysis machine that monitors an elapsed time and a number of accumulated hours during a current servicing interval is disclosed. The machine executes a machine-servicing algorithm on at least the elapsed time and the accumulated operating hours to generate a projected servicing interval duration. A servicing event indicator displays servicing event schedule information based on the projected servicing interval duration. A transfusion pump, similarly equipped, is also provided.

A dialysis station including several patient places each of which is provided with a dialyzer and a video terminal. In an internal data network, the video terminals are interlinked with each other and with a server including a data base. At a physician place, the treatment course can be followed for each patient place. If necessary, the physician may intervene and prescribe a new or changed medication appearing on the video terminal of the patient place. After having administered the medicine, the nurse acknowledges the administration of the medicine. The dialogue taking place between physician and nurse is documented in the scope of the treatment course.

A blood treatment apparatus includes a controller and a supervisor, which together monitor various sensors. The controller is equipped with a first alarm system and the supervisor is equipped with a second alarm system. To avoid competition between both alarm systems, the alarm system of the supervisor normally remains mute. A function monitoring device monitors the function of the first alarm system and signals a missing alarm to the supervisor. Only in this case will the second alarm system of the supervisor be activated.

An extracorporeal blood treatment system comprises an ECB station with an ECB unit, such as a dialysis machine. Via a web server and a browser, the ECB station communicates with a data net to which external browsers and external web servers are connected. Thus, settings and maintenance operations may be performed on the ECB unit from a remote location. On the other hand, patient-related, machine-related or drug-related data or statistical data or consumption-related data can be transmitted from the ECB station to a remote location. The communication between a user interface, e.g., a touch screen, and the ECB unit is done via the internal browser. Thus, the user interface has access to the data net. The ECB unit receives all data, information and instructions via the web server. Thereby, data of different sources can be processed in the same format and be given different authorizations.
