In some aspects, an electronic device may receive a plurality of haptic signals associated with a plurality of haptic events, wherein the plurality of haptic events overlap in a time domain. The electronic device may generate a mixed haptics signal that combines the plurality of haptic signals in a mechanical acceleration domain, wherein the mixed haptics signal preserves timing or synchronization information associated with the plurality of haptic signals. The electronic device may generate an output stream to be provided to a haptic actuator, wherein the output stream includes a pulse code modulation (PCM) voltage signal based on the mixed haptics signal that combines the plurality of haptic signals. Haptics mixing for concurrent haptic events

In some aspects, an electronic device may display a keyboard user interface on a touchscreen display panel. The electronic device may detect a key press interaction with the keyboard user interface. The electronic device may trigger one or more haptic actuators to generate a vibration waveform associated with a haptic pattern that is based at least in part on a context associated with the key press interaction. Audio and haptic signal processing systems and methods are provided. There is provided a method for haptic drive signal generation. The method comprises receiving an input audio signal for driving an audio speaker. The method further comprises deriving, from the audio signal, data components indicative of behaviour of the audio speaker when being driven by the input audio signal, each data component being associated with a respective frequency range. The method further comprises determining a haptic drive component from each data component. A gain is selected to provide to each of the haptic drive components, the gain being selected for each respective frequency range. Each selected gain is applied to the respective haptic drive component to produce gain adjusted haptic drive components. A haptic drive signal is determined from the gain adjusted haptic drive components, the haptic drive signal being so as to produce a mechanical behaviour of the haptic actuator when the haptic drive signal is used to drive the haptic actuator.

Audio and haptic signal processing

Some methods may involve receiving fingerprint image data and a first set of background image data from a fingerprint sensor and determining first processed fingerprint image data via a subtraction of the first set of background image data from the fingerprint image data. Some methods may involve obtaining force data corresponding to a force applied to the fingerprint sensor when the fingerprint image data were obtained. Some methods may involve obtaining a second set of background image data corresponding to the force data. Some methods may involve determining second processed fingerprint image data based, at least in part, on the first processed fingerprint image data and the second set of background image data, and outputting the second processed fingerprint image data. In some examples, determining the second processed fingerprint image data may involve a machine learning model. Some examples may involve estimating residual noise based on the force data.

Control of a user device under wet conditions

An apparatus may include an ultrasonic sensor system, a low-frequency vibration source and a control system. The ultrasonic sensor system may include an ultrasonic receiver and an ultrasonic transmitter configured for transmitting ultrasonic waves in a first frequency range (e.g., 1 MHz to 30 MHz). The low-frequency vibration source may be configured for generating low-frequency vibrations in a second frequency range (e.g., the range of 5 Hz to 2000 Hz). The control system may be configured for synchronizing the generation of the first low-frequency vibrations and the transmission of the first ultrasonic waves.

An apparatus may include a cover layer, a layer of first metamaterial proximate (or in) the cover layer, a light source system configured for providing light to the layer of first metamaterial and a receiver system. The first metamaterial may include nanoparticles configured to create ultrasonic waves when illuminated by light. The receiver system may include an ultrasonic receiver system configured to receive ultrasonic waves reflected from a target object in contact with, or proximate, a surface of the cover layer. The control system may be configured to receive ultrasonic receiver signals from the ultrasonic receiver system corresponding to the ultrasonic waves reflected from the target object and to perform an authentication process and/or an imaging process that is based, at least in part, on the ultrasonic receiver signals.

Fingerprint sensor system including metamaterial

Systems, methods and apparatus for configuring a fingerprint sensor to operate in a capacitive sensing mode and an ultrasonic sensing mode are disclosed. A fingerprint sensor may be configured to operate in a capacitive sensing mode by driving a sensing electrode using a controller. In some implementations, an object positioned on or near the sensing electrode may be detected using the fingerprint sensor in the capacitive sensing mode, and the controller can drive electrodes of the fingerprint sensor differently to configure the fingerprint sensor to operate in an ultrasonic sensing mode. In some implementations, an applications processor may be instructed to authenticate a fingerprint of the object from image data obtained when the fingerprint sensor is operating in the ultrasonic sensing mode. In some implementations, a display of a mobile device containing the fingerprint sensor may be unlocked, or the mobile device may be woken up when the fingerprint is authenticated.

Hybrid capacitive and ultrasonic sensing

The present disclosure describes aspects of a capacitance-to-voltage modulation circuit. In some aspects, the circuit is used in touch sensing. In some aspects, a modulation circuit comprises a first pair of switches having one switch connected between a voltage source and a capacitor, and another switch connected between ground and the input of the circuit. The circuit also includes a second pair of switches having one switch connected between the voltage source and the input of the circuit, and another switch connected between ground and the capacitor. A third pair of the circuit's switches comprise one switch connected between the capacitor and an input of an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and another switch connected between the input of the circuit and the input of the ADC. The third pair of switches may enable charge sharing of signals modulated by the first and second pairs of switches, a result of which can be used to sense touch input based on capacitance at the input of the circuit.

Apparatuses and methods of a gradual power wake-up mechanism are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method of activating a device based on detection of a fingerprint image may include monitoring a first metric level of a first set of regions of the fingerprint image, determining a second metric level of a second set of regions of the fingerprint image in response to the first metric level exceeding a first threshold, and activating the device based on the second metric level of the second set of regions of the fingerprint image.
