The subject disclosure relates to improved integrated connector module (ICM) designs for Ethernet applications. Some aspects provide an improved integrated connector module transformer (ICMt), including a wafer configured to hold a plurality of toroid elements, wherein the wafer is comprised of two or more mechanically coupled wafer portions. The ICMt can include one or more Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) fingers that are configured to contact a ground pad of a printed circuit board (PCB) in order to provide a low-inductance connection between the ICMt and the ground pad of the PCB.

Integrated connector module for automation optimization

A technique is able to direct a power signal from a port power controller to one of multiple physical ports. The technique involves activating a set of port power controllers. Each port power controller is constructed and arranged to deliver power to a device through at most one physical port at a time. The technique further involves performing a set of discovery operations to discover device presence, the set of discovery operations providing discovery data. The technique further involves providing, based on the discovery data provided by the set of discovery operations, a set of switching signals to switching circuitry which is coupled to a set of physical ports. The switching circuitry is constructed and arranged to steer power signals from the activated set of port power controllers through the set of physical ports to deliver power to a set of devices.

The subject disclosure relates improved common mode choke (CMC) and integrated connector module (ICM) designs for Ethernet applications. Some aspects provide an improved CMC component, including an upper chassis element having a first plurality of comb structures vertically protruding from an edge of the upper chassis element, and a lower chassis element comprising a second plurality of comb structures vertically protruding from an edge of the lower chassis element, the second plurality of comb structures configured to interlock with the first plurality of comb structures to form an enclosure when the upper chassis element is mechanically coupled with the lower chassis element.

According to certain embodiments, an apparatus comprises port interfaces, charge storage devices, and a charge combiner coupled to a circuit board. Each charge storage device is associated with a port interface. Each port interface receives a current of charge from a device under test and pumps the charge to an associated charge storage device at a predetermined rate. Each charge storage device stores the charge from an associated port interface. The charge combiner combines the charge from the charge storage devices to yield a combined charge and feeds the combined charge to an output regulator.

A system enabling devices on a printed circuit board to communicate using network communication protocols over the communication medium provided on a circuit board. Disclosed are means for interfacing devices to differential traces on the printed circuit board such that a network communication protocol can be implemented over the traces on a printed circuit board. A hub system is also disclosed to regulate access to a shared communication medium and allow a plurality of devices to communicate over the shared communication medium. System for implementing network protocols between devices on a printed circuit board

A device interconnects across links, a plurality of terminals having respective modes of operation. The device includes a plurality of ports for connection to respective links, and logic coupled to the plurality of ports to exercise an auto-negotiation protocol with terminals coupled to the respective links to resolve modes of operation. The logic includes a shared unit for executing the auto-negotiation protocol, and an arbiter unit for arbitrating among the plurality of ports for use of the shared unit. The arbiter connects ports in the plurality of ports to the shared unit in a round robin sequence. Memory stores a set of status signals for respective ports. The arbiter logic polls the memory to read the set of status signals in sequence, and in response enables use of the shared auto-negotiation unit by the ports. The modes of operation resolved by the shared auto-negotiation unit include LAN technology supported by terminals on the corresponding links, such as IEEE 802.3 Local Area Network technologies.

A shielded electronic circuit assembly is disclosed. An enclosure formed of a composite material comprising a structural material and a conductive material closes along a perimeter to surround an electronic circuit assembly. The conductive material can be embedded in or laminated or coated on the surface of the structural material to provide a composite material with sufficient conductivity to provide shielding from electromagnetic interference. The enclosure can further contain a conductive elastomeric bead, interlocked joint, or compression fit along the perimeter to assure that good conductive contact is achieved and maintained along the perimeter when the enclosure is closed. The enclosure is conductively coupled to ground.

Binary data is transmitted to a network physical layer from a media access controller as a series of multibit nibbles and is encoded into a multi-level data stream and split among a number of transmission channels, thereby reducing the signal frequency necessary to carry the data on each one of the transmission channels. The multi-level signal is then translated at a receiver back into a binary data stream. In a specific embodiment, the symbol transmission frequency on each of the transmission channels is at the same frequency as the nibble transfer rate between the media access controller and the physical layer.

An apparatus and method for transmitting an 8-bit binary format data word as a 6-trit ternary code word includes an encoder, a decoder, and a code assignment that produce, for each 8-bit data word value, an unique 6-trit ternary code word that is particularly optimized for transmission over twisted-pair cable. The logic circuitry of the invention is optimized to accomplish the translation using a small number of combinatorial logic gates. The present invention thus has advantages in size, speed and performance over other possible means for encoding an 8 bit data word to a 6 trit code word.
