Systems and methods utilize navigation information to prepare electronic documents for display and/or provide electronic documents for display. In particular, in one or more embodiments, methods and systems identify pages likely to be selected for display based on a current page selected for display and navigation information. Moreover, one or more embodiments include systems and methods that determine an order of preparing pages for display based on navigation information. Navigation information includes, for example, navigation direction; navigation rate; a page previously selected for display; information regarding the contents of a page; and data regarding how one or more users have previously navigated one or more pages.

Publishing electronic documents utilizing navigation information

Media content is downloaded on a media device. Portions of the media content are buffered successively during the download in a buffer on the device. During the buffering, the buffered portions are read for playback. In the buffer, a non-write buffer region trails behind a current playback read position. Upon the buffering reaching an end of the buffer, the buffering of media content is continued between a buffer beginning and the non-write buffer region.

Buffering media content

A media player provides a shuffle controller that slightly varies a play order of a playlist. The media player receives a playlist the defines a first play order of content items. The first play order is indicated by respective positions of content items identified in the playlist. The media player swaps respective positions of at least two content items identified in the playlist to define a second play order for the content items. In one configuration the media player determines a swap condition that may or may not result in the swapping of two adjacently identified content items in the play list. After iterating over the playlist, the media player provides the playlist defining the second play order of content items. This shuffled playlist can be played back or saved.

Slightly varying shuffling of content items in playlists

Enhanced decompression of compressed images, in which a decompressed image with a target resolution is assembled using an iteratively decompressed and downscaled quantity of scanlines of a compressed image, the quantity of scanlines correlating to a downscaling factor determined based on an original resolution of the compressed image and the target resolution.
