Systems and methods herein are directed to an adjustable roof assembly for providing an adjustable roof of a vehicle. The roof adjustment assembly includes a base with a plurality of guide tubes extending from the base. Each of the guide tubes includes an inner rod that moves relative to an outer tube at least partially surrounding the inner rod. The base includes a foldable cover extending between a first pair of guide tubes and a panel cover extending between a second pair of guide tubes. The vehicle can include a roof coupled to the base and a guide tube synchronization system to facilitate controlling movement of each inner rod of the plurality of guide tubes such that the inner rods raise at the same rate. Movement of each inner rod of the plurality of guide tubes causes the roof to raise from a lowered position to a raised position.

Adjustable roof assembly

A gas distribution system for airbag inflation in a vehicle can include: a passenger airbag including a plurality of inflatable chambers; an airbag inflation device configured to produce a gas when a collision involving the vehicle is sensed and to supply the gas to the passenger airbag, causing deployment of the passenger airbag; and an inflation gas distributor disposed at least partially between the airbag inflation device and the passenger airbag, the inflation gas distributor including a rotatable distributor belt, the inflation gas distributor configured to allow passage of the gas from the airbag inflation device to a first subset of the plurality of chambers, and to impede passage of the gas from the airbag inflation device to a second subset of the plurality of chambers, by rotating the distributor belt to a gas distribution position selected among a plurality of predetermined gas distribution positions.

Distribution of gas for airbag inflation in a vehicle

A knee bolster system for absorbing an impact energy of an occupant's knee is provided with a multi-level force load limiter. The multi-level force load limiter includes three force load limiters. A first force load limiter includes a contact plate for receiving an impact force by the occupant's knee during a vehicle collision. A second force load limiter includes a torsional deflection rod for deforming torsionally by allowing relative rotation, and a third force load limiter includes a locking gear and a female locking base for locking further rotation of a rotational arm after rotation of the torsional deflection rod in the second force load limiter by a predetermined angle based on rotation of the rotational arm. Accordingly, the multi-level force load limiter can create a higher torsion force on the rotational arm of the knee bolster system.

Knee bolster

An airbagincludes at least one paneldefining an interiorof the airbag, and a dividerpositioned in the interior so as to divide the interior into an upper chamberand a lower chamber. A valve mechanismis operatively coupled to the dividerfor restricting a flow of gases from the lower chamberinto the upper chamber. The valve mechanismincludes one or more valveswith a desired aggregate opening(s) and located in predetermined location(s) thereby affecting a designed inflation profile. The dividerhas an arcuate length L, measured between two divider airbag attachment pointsand, greater than a corresponding linear horizontal airbag length L, measured between the same two attachment points. The passenger side airbagfor each unique vehicle is designed by iteratively reconciling the requirements of FMVSS208 with the present airbag design.
