A digital camera optically couples a monocentric lens to image sensor arrays, without optical fibers, yet shields the image sensor arrays from stray light. In some digital cameras, baffles are disposed between an outer surface of a monocentric lens and each image sensor array to shield the image sensor arrays from stray light. In other such digital cameras, an opaque mask defines a set of apertures, one aperture per image sensor array, to limit the amount of stray light. Some digital cameras include both masks and baffles.

Hemispherical star camera

An overlay mattress has a plurality of internal elevating means, such as inflatable bladders, for raising selected portions of the mattress to achieve a wide range of patient positions. A fluid such as air may be supplied from a conventional surgical room air supply, a compressed canister, or a compressor to inflate the bladders. A fluid distribution system controls the flow of fluid to desired bladders. The overlay mattress may be used in conjunction with conventional surgical tables and mattresses. A thermal control means is also included in the overlay mattress to regulate a patient's body temperature. A pressure shifting means is also included to reduce the risk of bedsore formation.

Overlay mattress

A surgical drape for use in connection with a sterility maintenance cover has an opening that corresponds to an open window in a sterility maintenance cover to facilitate ventilation and access to a patient's head, a window that corresponds to a window in a sterility maintenance cover to enhance patient comfort and observation, and attachment means for releasably attaching the drape to a sterility maintenance cover, and one or more fenestrations to facilitate surgical access at desired locations.

Surgical drape

A dispensing system and apparatus for introducing contrast media intravascularly during catheterization procedures, which apparatus includes connected segments of tubing that serve as a flow path into the vascular system. A spike is provided at one end of a first segment of the tubing for 'spiking' a bottle of contrast media. A stopcock is also provided in the first segment of tubing and a luer lock fitting is attached to the stopcock for connecting a second segment of tubing to the stopcock. A top check valve is provided in the second segment of tubing, which extends from the stopcock. A bottom check valve is provided in the second segment of tubing spaced from the first check valve and a bottom stopcock is also provided in the second segment of tubing below the bottom check valve. A third length of IV tubing projects from the bottom stopcock and receives a second luer lock fitting for securing the bottom end of the third length of IV tubing to a conventional manifold. When the dispensing system is operational, contrast fluid is allowed to flow through the first and second segments of tubing by manipulating the top stopcock, it then flows into the manifold by manipulating the bottom stopcock and is injected intravascularly into the body from the manifold during the catheterization procedure.

Contrast media dispensing apparatus

A device for maintaining the sterility of a patient and supporting medical instruments during both invasive and non-invasive procedures, which device includes a generally L-shaped member having a base panel for fitting beneath a patient and a supporting surface such as an operating table, an upward-standing side or end panel extending from the base panel and provided with an open window for accessing the patient and a horizontally-oriented instrument platform extending from the end panel parallel to the base panel above the patient's head, neck and shoulders, for receiving and deploying a drape and/or instruments during surgery. Gussets may extend from each edge of the base panel along the end panel to the instrument platform to strengthen the instrument platform. The device facilitates draping of the patient's head and upper body to insure a sterile operating field which is maintained throughout the procedure and the instrument platform facilitates deployment of surgical and other instruments in an efficient manner. In a preferred embodiment, the instrument panel, end panel and base panel are constructed of a single piece of transparent, radiolucent material such as ABS plastic.

Sterility maintenance cover and instrument support

A dispensing system and apparatus for introducing contrast media intravascularly during catheterization procedures, which includes connected segments of tubing that serve as a flow path into the vascular system. A spike is provided at one end of a first segment of the tubing for 'spiking' a bottle of contrast media. A stopcock is also provided in the first segment of tubing and a luer lock fitting is attached to the stopcock for connecting a second length of IV (intravascular) tubing fitted with a companion luer lock fitting. In a first preferred embodiment a top check valve is provided in the second segment of tubing, which terminates in the top of a reservoir. A second stopcock is connected to the bottom of the reservoir and a third length of IV tubing projects from the second stopcock and receives a bottom check valve and a second luer lock fitting for securing the bottom end of the third length of IV tubing to a conventional manifold. In alternative embodiments of the invention the top and bottom check valves are omitted from the dispensing system. When the dispensing system is operational, contrast fluid is allowed to flow into the reservoir by manipulating the top stopcock, from which reservoir it flows into the manifold by manipulating the second stopcock and is injected intravascularly into the body from the manifold during the catheterization procedure.

A device for maintaining sterility during which device includes an L-shaped member having a base panel for fitting beneath the patient, an upward-standing side or end panel and a horizontally oriented instrument platform extending from the side or end panel above the patient's head, neck and shoulders for receiving instruments during surgery. The device facilitates draping of the patient's head to insure a sterile operating field which is maintained throughout the surgical procedure. In a preferred embodiment, the instrument panel and the end or side panels may be removed from the base panel.

Sterility maintenance cover, surgical instrument tray, and drape support

A pressure transducer elevation gauge for determining the precise elevation of a physiologic pressure transducer in a heart catheter laboratory for determining hemodynamics, specifically relating to the heart. The pressure transducer elevation gauge is positioned adjacent to a reclined patient and an indicator is vertically adjusted on an upright rod or stand to the precise level, or mid-axiallary line of the patient's heart. The gauge indicator is then moved toward the foot of the bed, where it is used to precisely locate the physiologic pressure transducer at the mid-axiallary line.

Pressure transducer elevation gauge

A closed system canulating device for arterial and venous catherization, which includes a reservoir attached to the hub of a needle assembly and provided with an internal wire guide and valve to facilitate canulating an artery or vein with the needle and containing blood flashback in the reservoir during the canulation procedure. After canulation of the artery or vein is accomplished, a catheter guide wire is inserted through the valve and the wire guide located in the reservoir, into the needle hub and needle and finally into the artery or vein, to facilitate completion of the catherization procedure.
