A cornea-examining instrument includes a plate-shaped examining element of a transparent material, which has at least one light-reflective formation on one end face thereof. The examining element has a bore which extends generally parallel to said one face. A light source, particularly a penlight, has a mounting portion which is accommodated in the bore and through which a beam of light is emitted into the transparent examining element to illuminate the formation so that light reflected therefrom forms an image of the formation on the cornea being examined when a main axis of the examining element intersects the cornea, the shape of the image being indicative of the shape of the cornea. The formation can consist of a continuous groove or a plurality of spaced depressions. When a plurality of the formations is provided, they may be shaped as parallel straight lines symmetrically arranged with respect to the main axis, or as concentric rings. In the latter event, the depressions are preferably radially aligned with one another as between the formations so that the axes of corneal asphericity can be determined. The periphery of the examining element may be provided with an inwardly facing light-reflective layer to reflect light rays back into the examining element, and a bore centered on said main axis provided for examining the cornea therethrough. A magnifying lens may be pivotally mounted on the examining element adjacent the end face carrying the formation.

Cornea-examining instrument

A hockey game having a game board with a pair of spaced apart transparent plates and at least one magnetic actuator moving on the outer surface of a plate. Team members which can be attracted by the magnetic actuator are disposed in the space between the plates to slide on the upper surface of the bottom plate as an actuator is moved to hit and propel a puck. The team members are of three-dimensional construction to have an impact surface to the puck at any orientation. In the preferred embodiment, an area of the top plate is recessed and certain of the team members are of increased height confining their movement by an actuator in the area of the board which is not recessed.

Hockey game

A basketball game using magnetically attracted members which are moved by a magnetic actuator disposed on one or both surfaces of the gameboard under the control of one or more players in which the members are moved. The members are moved to hit a resilient ball against a projection, which also may be resilient, so that the ball can be lofted toward a raised basket. Access to certain areas in front of the basket is restricted by an arcuate guard on one of the top or bottom surfaces.

Games using magnetically actuated members

Instruments for measuring visual fields including a portable perimeter having a handle by which it can be held by the subject being tested. In a preferred embodiment, the perimeter includes a protractor which can be rotated clockwise-counterclockwise about an antero-posterior axis to any desired meridian. One end of a cord is attached to the protractor and a light source is attached to the other end of the cord. The protractor has angular markings thereon and the examiner uses the relationship of the cord to the angular marks and the meridian orientation of the protractor to determine the response of the eye to the light source. The protractor also can be rotated antero-posteriorly about a horizontal axis so that the same perimeter can be used to measure the response of both eyes merely by turning it over. A marking pad is provided to or upon which the response of a patient can be indicated when viewing the light source as it is moved through various angles of the field. In another embodiment of the invention, the angular field to be viewed is located on a chart held at a fixed distance from the perimeter and a light source is moved in front of or behind the chart.
