A sensor device removably attachable to a drug delivery device includes a sensing arrangement arranged within the sensor device and circuitry configured to process signals provided by the sensing arrangement. The sensing arrangement is configured such that, when the sensor device is attached to the drug delivery device, the sensing arrangement is operable to read encoded information present on a rotatable component internal to the drug delivery device and that is able to be sensed through a window or aperture of the drug delivery device, and is operable to sense through the window or aperture at least a part of a drive mechanism of the drug delivery device. The circuitry is configured to determine information relating to a set dose, and to determine information relating to whether the drug delivery device is in a dose setting mode or whether the device is in a dose delivery mode.

A drive train for a wind-up injection device is described. The drive train includes a torsional energy storage adapted to be loaded or unloaded by a rotatable element, a rotatable user handle, a rotationally driveable expelling mechanism adapted to expel the liquid drug, and a clutch element coupled with the torsional energy storage via the rotatable element and including a ratchet for maintaining the rotatable element at one of a number of discrete angular positions against the torque of the torsional energy storage. The clutch element is adapted to transmit the torque from the user handle to the torsional energy storage, or alternatively from the torsional energy storage to the expelling mechanism. The ratchet is switchable from one position to an adjacent position by a torque transmitted from the user handle to the torsional energy storage. The drive train is adapted to dampen torque peaks visco-elastically and/or visco-frictionally.

A sensor device is removably attachable to a drug delivery device. The sensor device comprises an array of optical sensors arranged within the sensor device such that, when the sensor device is attached to the drug delivery device, which has a first movable element configured to move along a path parallel to the longitudinal axis of the drug delivery device, each optical sensor is operable to detect light received at different locations along the path and to output a signal indicative of an amount of detected light. Circuitry is configured to receive the signals output from the optical sensors and, based on the received signals, determine information associated with a location along the path of the first movable element.

The present disclosure is directed to a spring arrangement for use in a drug delivery device and a drug delivery device including such a spring arrangement. The spring arrangement includes a clutch spring which is located axially interposed between a stationary housing component and an axially movable sleeve. The sleeve includes clutch features adapted to engage corresponding clutch features of a clutch element. The clutch spring biases the clutch features and the corresponding clutch features into engagement. The sleeve is coupled to a button such that upon actuation of the button the sleeve is translated against the bias of the clutch spring from a proximal position in which the sleeve is rotationally locked to the housing component into a distal position in which the sleeve is rotationally un-locked from the housing component. Upon release of the button the clutch spring translates the sleeve and the button into the proximal position.

The present disclosure is generally directed to a drug delivery device for selecting and dispensing a number of user variable doses of a medicament. The device comprises a housing and at least two separate component parts, wherein for example at least one of these component parts performs a movement relative to the housing during dose setting and for example at least one of these component parts performs a movement relative to the housing during dose dispensing, and wherein the relative movement of the at least two separate component parts with respect to each other during dose setting differs from the relative movement of the at least two separate component parts with respect to each other during dose dispensing. The device further comprises a monitoring device, wherein at least one component part of the device is diaphanous to allow optical detection of the movements of the at least two separate component parts relative to the housing, relative to the monitoring device and/or relative to each other during dose setting and/or during dose dispensing by the monitoring device.

This disclosure refers to a dosing mechanism for use in a drug delivery device implementing a dialing mode and a dispensing mode, wherein the dosing mechanism comprises a dose button, a housing and a determination unit. The dose button is activatable by the user for dose dispense, causing displacement of an indicating element connected to the housing from a first position to a second position. The determination unit is adapted such that it detects the indicating element in its second position and thereby determines that the dosing mechanism is in the dispensing mode. With some embodiments, it is possible to distinguish between the dialing mode and the dispensing mode. Some embodiments further refer to a drug delivery device comprising the above dosing mechanism.
