Describe herein are techniques for providing cloud-based discovery. For example, a device may be configured to provide device registration and de-registration notifications to a cloud-based discovery service. The cloud-based discovery service may be configured to respond to discovery request by identifying registered devices that meet the criteria of the discovery request. The cloud-based discovery service may also be configured to provide endpoint information associated with registered devices in response to the discovery request, such that a device is able to utilize the endpoint information to connect with one or more of the registered devices.

Methods and systems for facilitating communications between shared electronic devices are described herein. In some embodiments, a group account may be assigned to a shared electronic device. The group account may include one or more user accounts, where individuals associated with those user accounts may interact with the shared electronic device, and also may form a part of the group account. When a message is sent from one shared electronic device to another personal device or shared electronic device, the message may be indicated as being sent from the group account, as if the shared electronic device corresponds to its own separate account. In some embodiments, speaker identification processing may be employed to determine a speaker of the message and, if the speaker is able to be identified, the message may be sent from the corresponding speaker's user account instead of the shared electronic device's corresponding group account.

Messaging from a shared device

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed for processing input data to determine an entity such as a product, service, user profile, etc. referenced in or otherwise relevant to a semantic context of the input data. Information related to the entity may be provided as an information package (e.g., a card) that is shareable as part of an electronic message. The card may include a representation of a network resource identifier that identifies a network resource, a network location of the network resource, and an access mechanism for accessing a representation (e.g. a product detail page) of the network resource. The network resource identifier may include one or more tags or tokens that identify an electronic messaging application provider and/or a user such as a sender or recipient of an electronic message that includes the card so as to enable compensating the provider and/or the user for a purchase of a product or service to which the card relates.

Method and system for determining and presenting information related to a semantic context of electronic message text or voice data

Techniques for enabling a system to verify operations or transactions as being associated with a user account are described. A system receives message data associated with an unverified operation or an unverified transaction. The system generates first audio data that includes a representation of a first digital signature based on at least a first verification code. The system sends a message including second message data with an ability to output the first audio data responsive to first device playing the first audio data within earshot of the second device. The system receives, from a second device, second audio data that represents the first audio data. The system determines that the second audio data includes an audio representation of a second digital signature based on at least the first verification code. The system verifies the unverified operation and associates the operation with the user account to indicate that the operation is a verified operation.

Audio verification

This disclosure is directed to generating one or more presence-event notifications at one or more user devices associated with a user, and transmitting those presence-event notifications to one or more presence server(s). At the presence server(s) a stream of presence-event notifications may be filtered according to any number of predefined criteria, and then the presence-event notifications that have filtered through may be applied to presence plug-ins to generate presence information associated with user(s) for whom presence-event notifications were received. The presence-event notifications may be provided as a stream of presence information to one or more consumers of presence information and/or stored in a presence datastore. A consumer of presence information, such as a service provider, may request presence information associated with one or more users. In response, the service provider may be provided with the requested presence information based on whether that service provider has permissions to receive the requested presence information.

Contextual presence

Devices and techniques are generally described for encoding video data based on motion cues. In some examples, a first frame of image data representing a first view of a physical environment may be generated. The camera may be moved by a first amount in a first direction. A second frame of image data representing a second view of the physical environment may be generated. Intra-frame motion may be determined by subtracting a first vector representing movement of the camera by the first amount in the first direction from a second vector representing motion between the first frame and the second frame. Motion vector data representing motion between the first frame and the second frame may be calculated based on the intra-frame motion. An encoded representation of the second frame of image data may be generated and sent to a second device.

Motion cues for video encoding

Techniques for performing multimedia communications including audio and video (including still-frame video) are described. During a multimedia communication involving two devices, one of the devices may receive a user input to display digital book covers. In response, each device may display live video (captured by each device of the multimedia communication) and still-frame video corresponding to digital book covers. Thereafter, in response to a further user input, each device may display the live video and still-frame video corresponding to a specific page of one of the digital books. Each device may receive a user input for controlling the still-frame video displayed.

Multimedia communications with synchronized graphical user interfaces

Techniques for media processing are described. A system may initiate and manage a communication session between two or more devices, with routing services enabling devices from one or more networks to send and receive data. During the communication session, the system may route media data to a media processing unit to perform media processing on data being sent between devices in order to provide additional functionality. For example, video content may be processed to provide subtitles in a plurality of languages, filters may be applied to change color balance or perform colorization of black and white content, or the like. The media processing unit and routing are configured to allow low latency processing to enable feature rich configurable processing to enhance various media communication sessions.

Media transport system architecture

Techniques are described for allocation hardware and/or bandwidth resources of a viewer device between a live streaming media content playback of a video player and a concurrently provided live chat. For example, the network and hardware resources used by a video player for streaming media content playback can be adjusted based on chat conditions of the live chat.

Resource management for video playback and chat

Techniques for enabling a system to verify that contact data are to be added to a user account are described. A system receives message data. The system generates first audio data that includes a representation of a verification code. The system sends a message comprising the audio data to a first device. The system receives, from a second device, second audio data that represents the first audio data. The system confirms that the second audio data included a representation of the verification code, and then verifies that the contact data is to be added to the user account.
