Disclosed in some examples are methods, systems, machine-readable mediums, and devices for providing an aggregated view of reactions to content across multiple sharing locations of a network-based content sharing service and in some examples across multiple sharing locations of multiple network-based content sharing services. The system may track or determine reactions across different sharing locations of a single content sharing service (such as a unified communication service) or across multiple services. In some examples, only reactions to the content that are from sharing locations accessible by a particular user are aggregated and displayed to the particular user. In other examples, reactions may be viewable from all sources regardless of access by a user.

Linked file engagement

The disclosed techniques provide a messaging system with a user interface (UI) having a specific arrangement of suggested expressive illustrations, such as emojis. In some examples, a system analyzes a received emoji and provides a suggested list of emojis for a response. The suggested emojis are arranged in a way that candidate emojis capable of generating animation effects in combination with the received emoji, are listed higher in ranking, e.g., preceding, over other candidate emojis that cannot generate animation effects in combination with the received emoji. The system can rank individual emojis, or other types of graphical expressions, depending on whether a candidate emoji is capable of generating animated effects with the received emoji. In some embodiments, candidate emojis that are capable of generating animated effects precede candidate emojis that are incapable of generating animated effects.

Recommendations of expressive illustrations based on animation compatibility

The techniques disclosed herein enable users to receive visits from other users in a desktop environment and initiate communication sessions using a drag and drop gesture input to move virtual representations or avatars of other users. For instance, by dragging and dropping an avatar into a file, the user can select the file for sharing and the system can automatically grant appropriate permissions to various users who are invited by the gesture input. The user can additionally grant other users' permission to edit the shared file which is reflected in an update to each user's permission data. In this way, users can communicate and collaborate directly form the social space of a desktop without opening a communication application. Other features include suggestions for files to share based on the context of a conversation, presenting contextual information alongside each user's avatar and suggesting other shared spaces to explore.

Enhance control of communication sessions

A method and system for displaying an image in a communication thread accessible to a first and second user are disclosed, including receiving an indication of a selection of a first image by the first user for display in the communication thread, analyzing user attribute settings of the first user or the second user to determine if at least one of the first user or the second user has a user attribute setting corresponding to a customizable aspect of the selected first image, and causing, based on the analyzing, in different first and second modes, one of the selected first image or a modified image based on the selected first image to be displayed in the communication thread.

A method and system for causing a command-based composite template to be displayed in a communication stream are disclosed, the composite template including representations of first and second users combined with a representation of a selected template.

A method and system for combining subsequent data in a communication stream including receiving an indication of a selection of a first image in a communication thread and identifying a user attribute setting associated with the first user. Based on one or more composite image generation rules, the method includes determining that the selected first image is compatible for converting into a composite image. The method further includes accessing a user attribute setting associated with a second user and generating the composite image based on the selected first image and the user attribute settings of the first and second users. The generated composite image is then caused to be displayed in the communication thread.
