Methods and apparatus are described herein for fluorescent imaging of a retina using a head-mountable device. The retina is illuminated by a head-mountable device (HMD) with light at an excitation wavelength of a fluorophore in the retina and imaged by the HMD at an emission wavelength of the fluorophore. The direction of gaze of a user of the HMD could be determined from the retinal image. The pattern of vasculature in the retinal image could be used to identify the user of the HMD. Information in the retinal image could be used to determine the medical state of the user and diagnose disease states. Fluorescent agents can be introduced into the vasculature of the wearer of the HMD to facilitate these or other applications of fluorescent imaging of the retina using the HMD.

Reducing light damage in a shutterless imaging device includes receiving a signal from a hardware device and analyzing the signal to predict a use demand of the shutterless imaging device. In response to the analysis of the signal from the hardware device, a lens of the shutterless imaging device is adjusted. Adjusting the lens spreads out energy of far-field image light incident on an image sensor of the shutterless imaging device.

Reducing light damage in shutterless imaging devices according to future use

A camera system includes an array of image pixels disposed in or on a substrate and laid out in a multi-ring pattern. The array of image pixels is coupled to acquire image data of a color image in response to light incident on the array of image pixels. A color filter array ('CFA') is positioned to color filter the light incident on the array of image pixels and includes at least two different color filter types that filter different color bands of the light. An actuator is coupled to the CFA to adjust the CFA in a sequence and a controller is coupled to the actuator to control the sequence such that each image pixel in the array of image pixels is temporarily optically subtended by each of the at least two different color filter types in the CFA while acquiring the image data associated with the color image.

A method and computing system for providing, using one or more computing devices, a synchronous communication session for a plurality of users. A first video stream associated with the synchronous communication session is provided to a first imaging device associated with the synchronous communication session. A level of interest of the plurality of users in the first video stream provided to the first imaging device is determined. In response to a low level of interest of the plurality of users, a second video stream associated with the synchronous communication session is provided to the first imaging device associated with the synchronous communication session.
