Computer-implemented methods for performing enhanced resolution time-domain reflectometry are provided. Aspects include obtaining a plurality of waveforms by transmitting a first pulse on a transmission line, transmitting a second pulse on the transmission line, where the second pulse is transmitted after the first pulse by a delay, and capturing and measuring reflections of the transmitted pulses, wherein the delay corresponding to each of the plurality of waveforms is different. Aspects also include identifying a discontinuity of the transmission line based at least in part on the plurality of waveforms. Based on a determination that the transmission line includes the discontinuity, aspects include calculating third derivative curves for each of the plurality of waveforms and calculating a length of the discontinuity of the transmission line based on the third derivative curves. Aspects also include creating a notification indicating a location and the length of the discontinuity of the transmission line.

Enhanced resolution time-domain reflectometry

An apparatus for providing a safety and EMC compliant heat sink. The apparatus includes a heat sink configured to be attached to an internal power plane of a printed circuit board (PCB). The heat sink includes a plurality of fins extending outward from the heat sink. The apparatus further includes a compliance cage configured to be connected to a ground portion of the PCB, the compliance cage surrounding at least a portion of the heat sink. At least one capacitor plate contacting at least a portion of the compliance cage and extending inwards towards the heat sink and interleaving with the plurality of fins is present. Dielectric spacers are provided to fill a portion of the space between the capacitor plates and the heat sink fins.

Safety and EMC compliant internal power plane heat sink capacitor

A method for detecting information breach in a computer system. The method comprises: detecting a radio frequency signal in an area of the computer system. A set of samples of the radio frequency signal may be input to a machine learning model. An output of the machine learning model may be received. The output indicates whether the detected radio frequency signal is anomalous. An alarm signal may be generated in case the detected radio frequency signal is predicted as an anomalous signal.

Detecting information breach in a computer system

A method, a device, and a composition are disclosed. The method includes providing a polyol blend that includes a polyol resin and an electromagnetic (EMA) additive, providing an isocyanate resin selected such that blending the isocyanate resin with the polyol blend results in an EMA spray foam. The device includes a first compartment containing an isocyanate resin and a second compartment containing a polyol blend, which includes a polyol resin and an EMA additive. The composition includes a polyurethane spray foam and an EMA additive blended into the polyurethane spray foam.

The computer-implemented method includes determining that input signal data transmitted to a white noise generator autocorrelates with itself at one or more time lags. The computer-implemented method further includes, responsive to determining that the input signal data transmitted to the white noise generator autocorrelates with itself at one or more time lags, determining whether an autocorrelation in the input signal data transmitted to the white noise generator matches one or more predetermined input signal data patterns associated with a known event or individual.

Spectral autocorrelation based security system

A system and method for controlling an EMC protection apparatus in a removable component. The removable component is inserted into an end product. As a result of the insertion power is applied to the EMC protection apparatus. A determination is made as to whether a power good signal is detected within the removable component. In response to a power good signal, an EMC protection device is rotated from a retracted state to an engaged state such that the EMC protection device is placed over an enclosure opening in the removable component forming an EMC seal. Full functionality of the removable component can be delayed until such time as the rotation is completed.

Motor controlled retractable EMC protection

A system and a method of providing electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) protection. A removable component is inserted into an end product. The removable component includes a retractable EMC protection apparatus. In response to the insertion of the removable component a shape memory alloy on the EMC protection apparatus is heated to a temperature above the activation temperature of the shape memory alloy. The shape memory alloy then changes from a first shape to a second shape in response to the heating. In response to the change in the shape of the shape memory alloy an EMC protection component of the EMC protection apparatus is inserted into an enclosure opening of the removable component.

Thermally activated retractable EMC protection

Embodiments herein describe a capillary containing a eutectic conductive liquid (e.g., EGaIn) and an electrolyte (e.g., NaOH) that is integrated into a printed circuit board (PCB). In one embodiment, the PCB includes a capillary, a negative electrode, a positive electrode, a plurality of insulation layers, and a conductive layer. The capillary extends through the PCB. The capillary includes a side surface forming an annular cylinder. A eutectic conductive liquid and an electrolyte are disposed within an aperture formed by the side surface. An electrode extends through the side surface and contacts at least the eutectic conductive liquid or the electrolyte. The negative electrode is disposed at a first end of the capillary. The positive electrode is disposed at a second end of the capillary. The conductive layer is disposed between two of the plurality of insulation layers. The electrode forms an electrical connection with the conductive layer.

Electrochemically controlled capillarity to dynamically connect portions of an electrical circuit

A system and method for providing electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) protection for a removable component through a retractable EMC protection apparatus. The EMC protection apparatus includes an actuation pin, a stabilizing bracket, an actuation arm, a spring brace, an arm spring, a second stabilizing bracket, a rounded pin, an angled engagement feature, an enclosure opening, a conductive surface, a protection device spring, and a retractable EMC protection device. The actuation pin is configured to engage upon a surface of an end product upon insertion of the removable component into the end product. The activation arm is configured to simultaneously compress the arm spring against the stop brace and to push on the angled engagement feature. The angled engagement feature is configured to push in a downward direction on the conductive surface to seal an enclosure opening of the removable component with the retractable EMC protection device.

Retractable EMC protection

Methods and structures are provided for implementing embedded wire repair for printed circuit board (PCB) constructs. A repair wire layer is provided within the PCB stack with reference planes on opposite sides of the repair wire layer. When a repair connection is required, an appropriate plated through hole (PTH) is drilled to form the repair connection using the repair wire layer.

Implementing embedded wire repair for PCB constructs

Embodiments herein describe a capillary containing a eutectic conductive liquid (e.g., EGaIn) and an electrolyte (e.g., NaOH) that is integrated into a printed circuit board (PCB). In one embodiment, the capillary is formed in a through-hole in the PCB and has negative and positive electrodes at its respective ends to seal the eutectic conductive liquid and the electrolyte. The capillary further includes one or more electrodes that extend through a side of the portion of the capillary containing the liquids. The wiper electrodes also make electrical contact with respective conductive layers in the PCB. Using a DC voltage between the negative and positive electrodes, the eutectic conductive liquid forms electrical connections between the wiper electrodes, which in turn, forms electrical connections between the conductive layers in the PCB.

A capacitor comprises a housing and a first stack of parallel plates within the housing. A first plate and a second plate in the first stack are capacitively coupled. The capacitor comprises a second stack of parallel plates within the housing. A third plate and a fourth plate in the stack are capacitively coupled. The capacitor also comprises a first input electrode and a second input electrode. The capacitor also comprises a first output electrode and a second output electrode on a side surface of the capacitor. The capacitor also comprises a dielectric material located between each plate in the first stack and the second stack. The first stack is not capacitively coupled with the second stack.

A differential transmission line cable includes a notch filter to manage common-mode energy. The cable includes a narrow portion with two adjacent electrical conductors each having a narrow cross-sectional area and spaced at a narrow spacing. The cable also includes a wide portion longitudinally adjacent to the narrow portion. The wide portion includes the two adjacent electrical conductors each having a wide cross-sectional area greater than the narrow cross-sectional area and spaced at a wide spacing greater than the narrow spacing. The wide and narrow cross-sectional areas and spacings are specified so that the differential-mode impedance of the differential transmission line cable is uniform throughout both the narrow and wide portions and so that differences in the common-mode impedances of the narrow and wide portions create a notch filter to manage common-mode energy in the differential transmission line cable.
