According to the present invention, an edge filter for a pressurized fuel rail system having a plurality of fuel injectors from which pressurized fuel is fed to the injectors through a fuel inlet tube is disclosed. The edge filter has contoured leading and trailing ends that may be either spherical or conical to reduce turbulence in fuel upstream and downstream of the edge filter. The edge filter has inlet and outlet slots that are sloped between about 5% and 15% with the depth of the inlet slot decreasing as it approaches the outlet end and the depth of the outlet slot increasing as it approaches the outlet end.

Easy flow improved edge filter and fuel system

A fuel system is provided for supplying fuel to a fuel injector associated with a cylinder head, wherein the fuel injector has an opening and the cylinder head has a bore. The fuel system includes a fuel pipe disposable in the bore of the cylinder head and including a pipe body having first and second ends. The first end is engageable with the fuel injector and alignable with the opening. The fuel system further includes a fuel line assembly including a fuel line having an end that is engageable with the second end of the pipe body. The assembly further includes a rotatable nut engageable with the fuel line and threadingly engageable with the cylinder head for urging the end of the fuel line into engagement with the second end of the pipe body to thereby urge the first end of the pipe body into engagement with the fuel injector.

Fuel system

A sectionalized rocker arm cover assembly (,) is utilized for diesel engine (,) applications having overhead high pressure fuel lines (,). The fuel lines (,) connect to fuel injectors (,) that protrude through a primary member (,) of the rocker arm cover assembly (,). The rocker arm cover assembly (,) is sectionalized longitudinally. Sectionalizing the cover assembly (,) obviates the need to dismantle the fuel lines (,) and permits easy access to service the rocker arms (,). The injectors (,) are disposed longitudinally and provide vertical support to the rocker arm cover assembly (,).

A circular cross-sectional fuel pipe can be prevented from undesired rotation in an engine cylinder head, by a key-key slot combination having a relatively small radial dimension. The key slot is formed by a groove formed in a cylindrical sleeve that is press fit in a counterbore machined in the cylinder head. The mating key can be a ball, or pin, or bar press fit into a side surface of the fuel pipe.
