An interactive device includes a first sensor, a first button, an accelerometer, a processor, and a transmitter. The first sensor is configured to receive coordinate information from a coordinate projection of a projector. The first button is configured to transmit an erase signal when the first button is pressed. The accelerometer is configured to provide angle information for the interactive device. The processor is in communication with the first sensor, with the first button, and with the accelerometer. The processor configured to receive the coordinate information from the first sensor, to receive the erase signal from the first button, to receive the angle information from the accelerometer, and to generate erase information based on the coordinate information, the erase signal, and the angle information. The transmitter is in communication with the processor, and is configured to transmit a delete request including the erase information received from the processor to the projector.

Interactive projector device

A display provides power to an information handling system through a display cable. The display cable includes a power wire and an auxiliary channel. The display and information handling system communicate through the auxiliary channel to coordinate power transfer from the display to the information handling system, such as in the form of a trickle charge to a battery integrated in the information handling system.

A projector includes a network interface card, a basic input output system, and a service set identifier module. The network interface card is configured to communicate with a computer. The basic input output system is in communication with the network interface card, and is configured to store a model number and identification data for the projector. The service set identifier module is in communication with the basic input output system, and is configured to retrieve the model number and the identification data, and to utilize the model number and the identification data to create a unique service set identifier for the projector.

A projector includes a first serial advanced technology attachment connector, a latch, a switch, and a communication module. The first serial advanced technology attachment connector is configured to connect with a second serial advanced technology attachment connector located within a computer. The latch is configured to extend from the projector and to disconnect the first serial advanced technology attachment connector from the second serial advanced technology attachment connector. The switch is in communication with the latch, and is configured to close when the latch is extended. The communication module is in communication with the switch and with the first serial advanced technology attachment connector. The communication module is configured to provide power to a radio link, to initiate communication with the computer via the radio link, to receive an image from the computer, and to display the image.

Integrated projector system

An information handling system powers a projector through a communication interface, such as a USB interface, by selectively enabling first or second power levels through the communication interface. Initially, the communication interface provides a first minimal power level to run a controller on the projector. The controller communicates with the information handling system to establish approval for power at a second level, such as by communicating an identifier or a power level to the information handling system. The projector approves a power draw at the second power level based upon information received from the information handling system. The projector draws power at a second level that is adequate to fully operate the projector for presentation of visual images.

An information handling system projector lamp door includes a thermal safety latch that secures the lamp cover panel if the temperature of the projector interior exceeds a safety limit associated with potential harm to an end user. A thermostatic spring expands at a predetermined temperature to interfere with movement of a latch so that the latch is locked to secure the cover panel in a closed position. Below the predetermined temperature, the thermostatic spring retracts to allow movement of the latch so that the cover panel is released to move to an open position. An override interfaces with the thermal safety latch to allow manual release of the cover panel by retracting the thermostatic spring.

System and method for projector lamp door thermal safety latch

An information handling system projector lamp housing includes a safety interlock to reduce the risk of electrical shock to an end user during lamp insertion and removal. A ballast disposed in the projector interfaces with a low voltage power supply through a ballast power supply circuit and transforms the low voltage into high voltage for use by the lamp. A connector associated with the ballast connects with a connector on the lamp housing to supply the high voltage to the lamp. The safety interlock breaks the ballast power supply circuit if the ballast connectors are exposed, such as during insertion or removal of the lamp. The safety interlock completes the ballast power supply circuit as the lamp housing fully inserts in the projector to allow power supply for illumination of the lamp.

Projector bulb life is managed to achieve desired performance parameters, such as a maximum life mode or maximum brightness mode, by sensing bulb luminance and applied the sensed luminance with a luminance feedback controller to drive the bulb to achieve the desired performance parameter. For instance, in maximum life mode the luminance feedback controller reduces power applied to the bulb to restrict bulb luminance to a maximum luminance setpoint when greater luminance is available with a newer bulb. In maximum brightness mode, the luminance feedback controller increases power applied to the bulb to increase bulb luminance if the sensor senses luminance below a threshold due bulb wear. Bulb life management improves project image illumination to display information in a variety of projector types, including digital mirror devices and liquid crystal displays.

System and method for managing projector bulb life

An information handling system comprises a data processing unit providing at least one control signal and a constant voltage signal, a monitor coupled with the data processing unit, wherein the monitor comprises a power saving circuitry receiving the at least one control signal and the constant voltage signal. The power saving circuitry comprises a microcontroller for monitoring the control signal comprising a supply voltage input being coupled with the constant voltage signal provided by the data processing unit, a controllable switch for coupling a power supply voltage with the monitor being controlled by the microcontroller.

Power saving circuit for display system

A lens cap position sensor detects covering of a projector display lamp lens by a lens cap and reduces or disables illumination from the display lamp to prevent melting of the lens cap. For instance, electrical contacts associated with the lens cap complete a circuit when in contact with a conductive portion of the housing of the projector due to insertion of the lens cap over the lens, the completed circuit signaling an illumination controller of the projector to turn off the lamp or illuminate dark colors. Alternatively, a light sensor, such as an infrared sensor located on the inner surface of the lens cap, detects illumination from the lamp to sense insertion of the lens cap over the lens and to signal the illumination controller to turn off the lamp. In one embodiment, lens cap position signals are sent from the lens cap to the illumination controller through wires that secure the lens cap to the projector.
