A lock holds together two masts of a multi-stage forklift truck. A spring-loaded bolt carried by the inner mast is forced into an opening in the outer mast when the carriage is lowered to a position lower than the lowest edge of the inner mast. With the lock engaged the carriage may be raised from its lowest position without forcing the inner mast to rise from its lowest position. Once the carriage has been raised to clear the lower edge of the adjacent mast, the two masts are then unlatched. The latching mechanism allows the amount of travel of a carriage relative to the adjacent mast to be extended without movement of the adjacent mast.

Forklift roller mast lock

A brake release mechanism, particularly for machines having a hydrostatic transmission, such as a tractor. The brake latching member includes a rotational latch pin receivable within a ratchet slot or the like in the brake lever to releasably hold the lever in the brake position. The latching member is connected to the transmission control arm by two cables. Each cable is connected at one end to a lever on the transmission control lever and the opposed cable ends are connected by lost motion links to the latching member, on opposed sides of the latch pin, such that rotation of the transmission control lever either direction from neutral will rotate the latch pin out of ratchet engagement with the brake lever and automatically release the brake upon actuation of the hydrostatic transmission into forward or reverse.

Brake release mechanism

A two-piece complementary retaining clip is used to locate and position the end of a shaft passing through a housing. One portion of the clip features a hollow interior including an edge used to engage the shaft. The second portion of the clip fits within the first part of the clip and included edges complementary with the interior edges of the first part of the clip. The second clip also engages the shaft. A removable fastener, attached to the housing, is inserted between the first and second parts of the clip. The fastener anchors and holds the two clips in place.
