A process for preparing a Mndoped phosphor of formula I A[MF]:MnI includes combining a first solution comprising a source of A and a second solution comprising HMFin the presence of a source of Mn, to form the Mndoped phosphor; wherein A is Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, or a combination thereof; M is Si, Ge, Sn, Ti, Zr, Al, Ga, In, Sc, Y, La, Nb, Ta, Bi, Gd, or a combination thereof; x is the absolute value of the charge of the [MF] ion; y is 5, 6 or 7; and wherein a value of a Hammett acidity function of the first solution is at least −0.9. Particles produced by the process may have a particle size distribution with a Dparticle size of less than 10 μm.

Processes for preparing color stable red-emitting phosphor particles having small particle size

A process for preparing a Mndoped phosphor of formula IA[MF]:Mn  I Particles produced by the process may have a particle size distribution with a Dparticle size of less than 10 μm.

An ink composition is provided. The composition includes a binder material and at least one narrow band emission phosphor being uniformly dispersed throughout the composition, wherein the narrow band emission phosphor has a D50 particle size from about 0.1 &#x3bc;m to about 15 &#x3bc;m and is selected from the group consisting of a green-emitting U-containing phosphor, a green-emitting Mn-containing phosphor, a red-emitting phosphor based on complex fluoride materials activated by Mn, and a mixture thereof. A device is also provided.

Ink compositions with narrow band emission phosphor materials

A color conversion film is provided. The film includes at least one narrow band emission phosphor dispersed within a binder matrix, wherein the narrow band emission phosphor has a D50 particle size from about 0.1 &#x3bc;m to about 15 &#x3bc;m and is selected from the group consisting of a green-emitting U-containing phosphor, a green-emitting Mn-containing phosphor, a red-emitting phosphor based on complex fluoride materials activated by Mn, and a mixture thereof. A device is also provided.

Green-emitting phosphors and devices thereof

A device including an LED light source optically coupled to a green-emitting U-doped phosphor having a composition selected from the group consisting of U-doped phosphate-vanadate phosphors, U-doped halide phosphors, U-doped oxyhalide phosphors, U-doped silicate-germanate phosphors, U-doped alkali earth oxide phosphors, and combinations thereof, is presented. The U-doped phosphate-vanadate phosphors are selected from the group consisting of compositions of formulas (A1)-(A12). The U-doped halide phosphors are selected from the group consisting of compositions for formulas (B1)-(B3). The U-doped oxyhalide phosphors are selected from the group consisting of compositions of formulas (C1)-(C5). The U-doped silicate-germanate phosphors are selected from the group consisting of compositions of formulas (D1)-(D11). The U-doped alkali earth oxide phosphors are selected from the group consisting of formulas (E1)-(E11).

A phosphor composition is presented. The phosphor composition includes a solid solution of aluminum nitride and a complex oxide including europium and strontium, where an amount of oxygen in the solid solution is at least 0.4 weight percent and less than 1 weight percent. A lighting apparatus including a phosphor material including the phosphor composition is also provided.

Phosphor compositions and lighting apparatus thereof

A lighting apparatus that includes a light source and a phosphor composition radiationally coupled to the light source is presented. The phosphor composition includes a first phosphor that includes a phase of general formula (I):LZO(BrX):Euwherein 0&#x2266;n&#x2266;1; L is Zn, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, or combinations thereof; Z is Si, Ge, or a combination thereof; and X is F, Cl, I, or combinations thereof.

A phosphor composition is disclosed. A phosphor composition, comprises at least 10 atomic % bromine; silicon, germanium or combination thereof; oxygen; a metal M, wherein M comprises zinc (Zn), magnesium (Mg), calcium (Ca), strontium (Sr), barium (Ba), or combinations thereof; and an activator comprising europium. The phosphor composition is formed from combining carbonate or oxides of metal M, silicon oxide, and europium oxide; and then firing the combination. A lighting apparatus including the phosphor composition is also provided. The phosphor composition may be combined with an additional phosphor to generate white light.

Processes for producing particles of rare earth-containing phosphor materials, in which the particles have a core-shell structure and the shell has a lower rare earth content than the core. Such a process may include contacting a core particle with a precursor comprising Na(La,Ce,Tb)POto form a mixture, and then heating the mixture to a temperature sufficient to decompose the Na(La,Ce,Tb)POto evolve and melt an NaPOflux and initiate deposition of a (La,Ce,Tb)POshell on each core particle in the presence of the molten NaPOflux.

Process of forming phosphor particles with core shell structures

Phosphor particles, methods for their use to produce fluorescent lamps, and fluorescent lamps that make use of such particles. Such a phosphor particle has a core surrounded by a shell, and the shell contains GdMgBOdoped (activated) with at least terbium ions as a rare earth-containing phosphor composition that absorbs ultraviolet photons to emit green-spectrum light. The core is formed of a mineral material that is chemically compatible with the rare earth-containing phosphor composition of the shell, but does not contain intentional additions of terbium.

Phosphor materials, fluorescent lamps provided therewith, and methods therefor

Mercury vapor discharge fluorescent lamps are provided. The lamp can include a lamp envelope enclosing a discharge space and having an inner surface. First and second electrodes can be positioned on the lamp, such as on opposite ends of the lamp envelope. An ionizable medium that includes mercury and an inert gas can be within said lamp envelope. A phosphor layer can be on the inner surface of the lamp envelope. The phosphor layer generally includes a phosphor blend of a calcium halophosphor, a blue phosphor having an emission peak at about 440 nm to about 490 nm, a blue-green phosphor having an emission peak at about 475 nm to about 530 nm, and a red phosphor having an emission peak at about 600 nm to about 650 nm.
