A tool for driving a threaded fastener includes a driver head, a motor, and an injector. The driver head includes a spindle rotatable about an axis. A distal end of the spindle defines a plurality of drive surfaces configured to engage mating drive surfaces on the fastener to rotate the fastener about the axis. The driver head defines a fluid passage having an outlet proximate to the distal end of the spindle. The motor is drivingly coupled to the spindle to rotate the spindle about the axis. The injector is coupled to an inlet of the fluid passage and configured to feed a liquid insulator through the fluid passage.

A battery enclosure assembly includes first and second pieces of an enclosure having an interior area, a plurality of fasteners joining the first and second pieces at a fastening interface, and a seal system sealing the first and second pieces at a sealing interface that is outside the plurality of fasteners relative to the interior area. The seal system including a cured gasket and a non-setting sealant.

A seal assembly includes a cap and a seal. The cap includes an engagement structure and a flange. The engagement structure is configured to couple the cap to an enclosure. The flange defines a plurality of openings that are open through a first side of the flange and a second side of the flange. The seal includes a seal body and a plurality of bosses. The seal body engages the second side of the flange and includes a plurality of bosses. Each boss is positioned in a respective opening of the plurality of openings. The seal is compressible against the flange from a relaxed state in which the bosses are flush with the first side of the flange or recessed within the openings and a compressed state in which each boss extends from the respective opening beyond the first side of the flange.

A battery housing for an electric vehicle includes a cover, a body, and a seal. The body is secured to the cover and includes a first edge section and a second edge section secured to and overlapping the first edge section. The seal is engaged with the cover and includes a channel receiving the first and second edge sections of the body. The first and second edge sections of the body are engaged with the seal within the channel.

This disclosure details exemplary barrier seal assemblies for sealing vehicle electrical housings. The vehicle electrical housings may include any electrical housing utilized within a vehicle, including but not limited to battery pack housings and electrical connector assemblies. An exemplary barrier seal assembly may include a primary seal, a barrier seal, and a carrier that extends between the primary seal and the barrier seal. The barrier seal assembly is configured to reduce the ingress of corrosion inducing substances into an interior of vehicle electrical housings.

An exemplary enclosure assembly includes, among other things, first and second pieces of an enclosure having an interior area. The first and second pieces are pressed vertically together at an interface. A gasket seal seals the interface at a position outside the interface relative to the interior area. An exemplary enclosure securing method includes, among other things, sealing an interface by compressing a gasket seal horizontally between first and second enclosure pieces of an enclosure that provides an interior area. The first and second pieces are pressed vertically together along the interface.

This disclosure details exemplary battery pack designs for use in electrified vehicles or other electrified components. An exemplary battery pack may include a heat exchanger plate assembly having a metallic plate and a polymeric plate that are joined together to establish a coolant circuit therebetween. The metallic plate or the polymeric plate may include a protrusion that extends through an opening of the other of the metallic plate or the polymeric plate. The protrusion may either be crimped or heat staked to a surface surrounding the opening in order to join together the metallic plate and the polymeric plate of the heat exchanger plate assembly.

Methods and systems are provided for a quick connect device. In one example, a connector may include a first visual cue for coupling an outer portion to a middle portion and a second visual cue for coupling an inner portion to the middle portion.

In an intake manifold that has charge-motion-control valves (CMCVs), a gap exists between the flapper valves and the wall of the intake runners. Although the gap is maintained as small as practical, it cannot be eliminated because manufacturing tolerances and temperature variations to which the intake manifold is subjected must be accommodated to prevent binding of the flapper valves. Some flow makes an end run through the gap leading to undesirable fluid mechanics. Disclosed herein is a seal that is positioned to rest gently upon the flapper valve near the gap such that the gap is substantially sealed off while applying a modest force on the CMCV so that the actuation torque is minimally impacted. The seal has a press-in-place portion inserted into a pocket formed in the manifold to hold it in place and a lip portion that extends out from the press-in-place portion to obstruct the gap.
