A method may include: introducing a resin modified cement slurry into a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation, the subterranean formation comprising a caprock and a carbon dioxide injection zone, the resin modified cement slurry comprising: a resin; a hardener, a hydraulic cement; and water; and setting the resin modified cement slurry to form a set cement wherein the set cement forms a carbonation-resistant barrier in the carbon dioxide injection zone in the subterranean formation.

Well barriers for subterranean storage of carbon dioxide

A composition including a particulate, water, and a suspension aid comprising graphene, wherein the graphene comprises bioderived renewable graphene (BRG) and wherein the particulate is suspended in the composition. Methods of making and using the composition are also provided.

Graphene fluid utilized to suspend particulates

A cement slurry including graphene, a cementitious material, and water; the graphene comprises bioderived renewable graphene (BRG). The cement slurry can comprise from about 0.01 to about 20, from about 0.1 to about 15, from about 0.5 to about 5 percent graphene by weight of cementitious material (% graphene bwoc). The cement slurry can have enhanced stability, as evidenced by a uniform density of the slurry and a reduction in free fluid, according to API 10B-2, relative to a same cement slurry absent the graphene.

Use of graphene to enhance stability and density control of cement slurries

Disclosed herein is a liquid salt activator comprising a salt, a suspending aid, and water, wherein the salt is present in the liquid salt activator in an amount of from about 5 wt. % to about 95 wt. %, based on the total weight of the liquid salt activator. Also disclosed herein is an activated extended life slurry (ELS) composition comprising a hydraulic cement, a supplementary cementitious material, the liquid salt activator, and an aqueous fluid. The activated ELS composition can be used in a method of servicing a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation.

Liquid salt activator and methods of making and using same

A cement slurry including graphene, a cement, and water; the graphene comprises bioderived renewable graphene (BRG). The cement slurry has reduced transient gel formation relative to a same cement slurry absent the graphene. Methods of mitigating transient gels in cement are also provided.

Mitigation of transient gels in cements

A hardened cement produced by setting a cement slurry including graphene comprising bioderived renewable graphene (BRG), a cement, and water. The graphene of the cement slurry comprises, consists essentially of, or consists of BRG, and the cement slurry comprises at least 0.2 (e.g., from about 0.2 to about 20) percent graphene comprising BRG by weight of cement (% graphene bwoc). The hardened cement produced by allowing the cement slurry to set has one or more enhanced mechanical properties (e.g., increased Young's modulus (YM), increased compressive strength (CS), or increased resiliency as indicated by an increased reduction in a ratio of YM/CS) relative to a same hardened cement produced by allowing to set a same cement slurry comprising a same total amount of graphene, with synthetic graphene (SG) in place of at least a portion of the BRG. Methods of cementing with the cement slurry are also provided.

Bioderived renewable graphene enhanced cement

Cementing in a subterranean formation may include, activating an extended-life cement composition by mixing at least the extended-life cement composition with a liquid activated pozzolan additive comprising a carrier fluid and an activated pozzolan, wherein the extended-life cement composition comprises water, pumice, hydrated lime, and a set retarder; introducing the extended-life cement composition into a subterranean formation; and allowing the extended-life cement composition to set to form a hardened mass in the subterranean formation.

Enhanced pozzolan for using in extended life cements

Preparing a cement slurry may include, mixing at least a raw pozzolan and a passivated cement solution, wherein the passivated cement solution comprising cement hydration products; reacting at least a portion of the raw pozzolan with the cement hydration products in the passivated cement solution to produce an activated pozzolan; drying the activated pozzolan; and blending the activated pozzolan with a cement.

Method for enhancing reactivity of pozzolanic materials

A cement composition can include water; cement, wherein less than 75 w/w % of the total amount of the cement is Portland cement; and a fluid loss additive, wherein the fluid loss additive comprises a polymer network having at least one branching point formed with a monomer and a cross-linking agent that comprises at least three active functional groups. The cement can also be a non-Portland cement. The monomer can be a vinyl ester-based monomer that is polymerized with the cross-linking agent to form the polymer network. The cement composition can be used in an oil and gas operation.

Fluid loss additive for low-Portland or non-Portland cements

A cement composition comprising a hydraulic cement, water and a suspension agent comprising a polymer formed via emulsion polymerization, wherein the polymer has a weight average molecular weight of at least 600,000. The cement composition may be introduced into a wellbore to cement a casing in place within the wellbore. The cement composition is able to maintain consistency and thickness even at high temperatures above 350° F.

Emulsion polymerized cement suspension agent
