A system for measuring an angular position of a rotor with respect to a stator, wherein the rotor is rotatable around a rotation axis, and the system includes: a magnetic source mounted on the rotor, having at least four magnet poles and providing a periodically repetitive magnetic field pattern with respect to the rotation axis; a sensor mounted on the stator and comprising a plurality of sensor elements for measuring at least one magnetic field component of the magnetic field and for providing a measurement signal thereof; the sensor being located substantially centered around the rotation axis, in a plane substantially perpendicular to the rotation axis at a first distance from the magnetic source; the sensor elements being located substantially on a circle at a second distance from the rotation axis; a calculator that determines the angular position by calculating it from the measurement signals.

Arrangement, method and sensor for measuring an absolute angular position using a multi-pole magnet

An arrangement for measuring an angular position of a rotor with respect to a stator, comprises a multi-pole magnet mounted on the rotor, and a sensor mounted on the stator and a plurality of sensor elements organized in two groups or four groups for measuring a magnetic field component. A method for calculating the angular position comprises making a sum of signals of the elements of each group, a ratio of the two sums, and an arctan function. Alternatively the method may comprise making a sum of signals, the difference of sums, a ratio of the differences, and an arctan function. A method determines isotropic stress by means of a Hall element which includes a plate-shaped area made of a doped semiconductor material and comprises four contacts contacting the plate-shaped area and forming corners of a quadrangle, two neighboring corners of the quadrangle defining an edge thereof. At least one van der Pauw transresistance value in at least one van der Pauw measurement set-up of the Hall element is determined, wherein the four contacts of the Hall element form contact pairs, a contact pair comprising two contacts defining neighboring corners of the quadrangle. One contact pair supplies a current and the other contact pair measures a voltage. A relationship between the supplied current and the measured voltage defines the Van der Pauw transresistance value. The method comprises determining a stress signal which depends on the at least one Van der Pauw transresistance value and determining isotropic stress.

An integrated semiconductor device for measuring a magnetic field, comprising: a Hall sensor, a first lateral isotropic sensor having a first stress sensitivity and a first temperature sensitivity, a second lateral isotropic sensor having a second stress sensitivity and a second temperature sensitivity, optional amplifying means, digitization means; and calculation means configured for calculating a stress and temperature compensated Hall value in the digital domain, based on a predefined formula which can be expressed as an n-th order polynomial in only two parameters. A device for measuring current comprises a magnetic field sensor for measuring the magnetic field produced by a current I flowing through a current conductor and a yoke of a magnetic material with a relative permeability of at least 100. The magnetic field sensor preferably comprises a semiconductor chip with at least one Hall element and an electronic circuit for the operation of the Hall element. The yoke consists of an oblong piece of sheet metal or a laminate of sheet metals with two ends, that has been brought by bending into a form in which the front sides of the ends of the yoke face each other and are separated by an air gap. The ends of the yoke may be flush, tapered, or flayed relative to the width of the yoke.

Device for measuring current

An assembly group for current measurement comprises a conductor plate with three cuts and a measuring element placed on the conductor plate that has a difference sensor formed from two magnetic field sensors. By means of the three cuts a first and a second conductor section are formed in the conductor plate, wherein the current direction in the second conductor section runs opposite to the current direction in the first conductor section. The first magnetic field sensor is located above the first conductor section and the second magnetic field sensor is located above the second conductor section. The magnetic field sensors are sensitive to a magnetic field that runs parallel to the surface of the conductor plate and orthogonal to the current direction in the two conductor sections.
