An additive composition may comprise at least one phosphorus- and boron-containing dispersant, at least one boron-containing dispersant, and at least one detergent. Such composition may be useful in power transmissions to provide improved anti-shudder performance and/or improved friction durability.

Methods for providing steel-on-steel friction and/or steel-on-paper friction with lubricant compositions for power transmitting fluids

There is provided an automatic transmission fluid composition comprising a major amount of a base oil; one or more friction modifiers, wherein total nitrogen content provided by the one or more friction modifiers is greater than or equal to about 300 ppm; and one or more ashless dispersants, wherein the total nitrogen content provided by the one or more ashless dispersants is greater than or equal to about 500 ppm. The automatic transmission fluid may have a kinematic viscosity at 100&#xb0; C. of from about 4 cSt to about 6.5 cSt and a Brookfield viscosity at &#x2212;40 &#xb0; C. of from about 4,000 cP to about 20,000 cP.

Core-excited nanoparticle thermotherapy (CENT), is an improved material for use in thermotherapy. The CENT method uses both core-exciting energy (including x-rays) and core-shell nanoparticles, specifically designed to absorb radiation in their core structure, then transfer energy from the core to the shell, to heat the outer shell of the nanoparticle. The heated nanoparticle then heats the surrounding region to a temperature sufficient to detect, affect, damage and/or destroy the targeted cell or material. The present invention relates to a clean gear boron-free gear additive employing a boron-free ashless dispersant, a sulfur source and a phosphorus source. More particularly, the preferred boron-free ashless dispersant is a hydrocarbyl succinimide. This additive composition when blended with a suitable base oil meets MT-1 and MIL-PRF-2105E requirements without the need for boron. MT-1 is a requirement for a clean gear manual transmission oil. MIL-PRF-2105E is a requirement for a rear axle oil.
