A method of controlling a wind turbine is provided including a generator system, an energy storage system and auxiliary equipment, the method including, in particular during a low wind condition: controlling the generator system in order to provide power from the generator system to the auxiliary equipment, in particular such that a rotor speed does not decrease; controlling the energy storage system in order to provide power from the energy storage system to the auxiliary equipment, if required to meet a power requirement of the auxiliary equipment; in particular keeping the wind turbine in operation.

Low-wind ride-through of a wind turbine

A method of controlling an operation of energy storage systems of a wind park is provided. The wind park includes a plurality of energy storage systems each of which is associated with a wind turbine comprised by the wind park. Further, each of the plural energy storage systems is configured to be operable to provide electrical energy to an auxiliary system of the associated wind turbine. The method includes obtaining for each of the energy storage systems storage system state information indicating an availability of the energy storage system to store and/or provide electrical energy and operating the plural energy storage systems as a combined energy storage system based on the obtained storage system state information. The method further includes controlling the providing of electrical energy from the combined energy storage system and/or the storing of electrical energy in the combined energy storage system.

A method of charging an energy storage system of a wind turbine is provided. The wind turbine includes a power generation system and a power delivery interface. The method includes obtaining a maximum power limit to which electrical power supplied to the external system via the power delivery interface is limited; monitoring an amount of electrical power provided from the power generation system to the power delivery interface or an amount of power generatable by the power generation system; and determining if a predefined condition is met. If the predefined condition is met, the wind turbine is operated in a charging mode in which electrical power generated in addition to a first amount of electrical power is supplied from the power generation system to the energy storage system to charge the energy storage system. The first amount corresponds to a power rating of the wind turbine.

A safety system of a wind turbine system is provided. The wind turbine system includes at least one wind turbine and a hydrogen production system configured to produce hydrogen using electrical power generated by the wind turbine. The safety system include a monitoring system configured to monitor the wind turbine system to detect a malfunction of the hydrogen production system. It further includes a control system configured to trigger a safety function of the wind turbine system upon detection of a malfunction of the hydrogen production system by the monitoring system.

A wind turbine includes a generator for converting wind energy into electrical energy, a hydrogen production system for producing hydrogen by means of the electrical energy, a first auxiliary group of electrical consumers, a second auxiliary group of electrical consumers, and an auxiliary power network for powering the first auxiliary group and the second auxiliary group, wherein only the first auxiliary group is electrically disconnected from the auxiliary power network by means of one or a plurality of switch disconnectors to reduce the energy consumption of the auxiliary power network. Due to the one or the plurality of switch disconnectors, it is possible to disconnect the first auxiliary group from power. This helps to save energy in the case that the first auxiliary group is not needed for the operation of the wind turbine.

A method of mitigating a vibration of a wind turbine not receiving power from to a utility grid includes: receiving power from an energy storage system of the wind turbine; utilizing the power received from the energy storage system: to detect a wind direction and to adjust an orientation of the rotor axis of a rotor shaft, if a criterion is satisfied taking into account at least the relative orientation of the rotor axis and the detected wind direction and/or taking into account a level of the vibration.

Wind turbine control arrangement

A method to control the operational status of a wind turbine is provided. An operator communication interface establishes a wireless point-to-point communication to a wind turbine communication interface. The wind turbine communication interface is an integrated part of the wind turbine. A control signal is transmitted from the operator communication interface via the point-to-point communication to the turbine communication interface. The control signal is transferred from the turbine communication interface to an internal control system of the wind turbine. The internal control system of the wind turbine changes the operational status of the wind turbine based on the control signal.

Detection of oscillating movement of a wind turbine

A method of controlling the operation of a wind turbine is provided. The wind turbine includes a rotor, a generator and at least one heat generating component. The method includes obtaining a temperature of the heat generating component; determining the presence of a predetermined increase of the temperature of the heat generating component; and upon determining the presence of the predetermined temperature increase, controlling the rotational speed of the generator so as to increase the rotational speed of the generator while not increasing the electrical power output of the generator or while increasing the electrical power output of the generator at a smaller proportion than the increase in rotational speed of the generator so as to reduce the level of electrical current in the generator.
