An alternator includes a housing having an inner surface and an outer surface, a stationary field coil component fixedly mounted to the inner surface of the housing through one or more mechanical fasteners, and a heat sink component mounted to the outer surface of the housing. The heat sink component includes one or more openings that align with corresponding ones of the one or more mechanical fasteners.

Alternator having a heat sink and method

An electric machine a cylindrical stator core having an outer perimeter surface and an inner perimeter surface with a plurality of slots formed between the inner perimeter surface and the outer perimeter surface. The inner perimeter surface defines an inner cylindrical space for the stator that extends in an axial direction within the stator. The stator core is configured to retain a winding arrangement comprised of a plurality of conductor segments positioned in the plurality of slots of the stator core. The winding arrangement further includes a jumper extending into the inner cylindrical space and connecting two of the plurality of conductor segments. Accordingly, the jumper appears as a chord of a circular end shape of the stator core.

Disclosed is a coil support for an electrical machine including a shank having a first outer diameter configured to support a field coil of the electrical machine and a base located at one end of the shank. The base has a second outer diameter greater than the first outer diameter and includes a plurality of recesses configured to increase a cooling flow through the electrical machine. Further disclosed is an electrical machine including the coil support and a method for cooling an electrical machine.

Coil support for rotating electrical machine

Disclosed is a dynamoelectric machine having improved heat dissipation capabilities. The dynamoelectric machine includes a three-phase stator winding with a rectifier assembly electrically connected to the stator winding. The rectifier assembly includes an end frame having at least one negative diode contained therein and a positive heat sink which has at least one positive diode disposed therein. Connecting the negative diodes and positive diodes is a terminal assembly. The terminal assembly includes one or more electrically conductive and heat dissipative straps. The straps electrically connect one or more negative diodes and one or more positive diodes. Also disclosed is a method for dissipating heat from a rectifier of a dynamoelectric machine.

High current capacity rectifier package

A one-piece stator lead and terminal insulator for an oil cooled alternator comprises an arcuate plate having three cylindrical retainers positioned thereon for receiving stator terminals. The arcuate plate also includes three guides for guiding stator leads to the terminals. Furthermore, three rectangular holes are provided next to each of the guides. The rectangular holes receive insulating ties that encircle the stator leads and hold the stator leads to the plate, properly positioning the stator leads away from other conductors and housings within the alternator. Two flanges also extend from the plate to aid in assembly of the device and further act to properly position the stator leads away from other conductors and housings within the alternator.
