The present invention is an ejector drive hub. The ejector drive hub comprises an axial through hole in a cylinder with a slot in the circumferential side wall of the cylinder. The slot truncates less than 180&#xb0; of the cylinder. The ejector drive hub has an engagement face for a cam or pawl to drive it rotationally. A radial through hole in the slot forms a communicating opening between the slot and the axial through hole. The ejector drive hub further comprises a mount adapted to maintain a drive pawl in operative position relative to the radial through hole. The ejector drive hub further has at least one notch for engagement of a latch to maintain the ejector drive hub in a stationary position during knotting. The ejector drive hub has a boss to actuate an ejector. The boss and the disc portion of the ejector drive hub are integrally fabricated from a single piece of material as by machining.

A wire core spool including a central axial member, a plurality of expansion swing arms, each having a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal ends pivotally attached to the central axial member, a plurality of contact members, each having a top and a bottom end, each of said contact members being pivotally attached to each of the distal ends of each of at least one of the expansion arms, a plurality of base members each attached to one of the bottom ends of said contact members, said base members disposed to support a bottom surface of a wire core, and at least one stand section fixedly attached to the bottom of the central axial element, the stand sections and base members being in spaced relation sufficient to allow passage of a binding wire therebetween, and such that said base members are disposed to rest on top of the stand sections.

The invention is a baling machine with an articulated guide track disposed in three operationally distinct sections. One section of the articulated guide track, representing approximately one-half of the track perimeter, is movable between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the large section completes a guide track perimeter. In the second position, the large section pivots away from tying heads of the baling machine to permit ejection of the bale from the machine.

An apparatus for binding a transportable wire core including a binding table comprised of sections in spaced relation sufficient to allow passage between them of a binding wire, and a collapsible carrying spool having base members being in spaced relation sufficient to allow passage between them of a binding wires. The spool is positionable on the table such that the base members of the spool and the sections of the table are aligned in operative cooperation. Guide tracks have first sections attached to the table and in operative alignment between the spool base members and the table sections. Guide track second sections are translatable between a removed position that allows a wire core on a spool to be positioned on the binding tables and an engaged position that operatively engages the binding wire guide track first sections. The second guide track sections operatively align between the sections of the table and the base members of the spool. A binding wire tying head loops binding wire around the wire core through the guide track sections, tensions the binding wire between the sections of the table and the spool and into direct contact with the wire core, and finally cuts the binding wire and knots it.

Apparatus and method for automated binding and spooling of wire cores

A wire tieing system for wrapping and tieing a bale of material with wire comprises a wire guide for guiding a wire around a bale of material and a tieing head configured for receiving portions of a wire in the guide and securing the portions together to thereby tie the wire and therefore tie a bale of material. The tieing head is pivotable with respect to the wire guide and is operable for being pivoted between an operating position proximate the guide and a maintenance position away form the guide. A head pivot assembly maintains the tieing head in the maintenance position. The head pivot assembly comprises a support block and a locating pin which are operably movable to engage a portion of the tieing head when the tieing head is pivoted to the maintenance position to prevent the head from pivoting back to the operating position.

Apparatus for tieing and binding bales of material

A hand cart for transporting a roll of wire and straightening and measuring a length of wire pulled from the roll. The hand cart comprises a generally planar frame having upper and lower transverse mounting plates located in the plane of the frame. A center post extends outwardly from the lower transverse mounting plate and rotatably supports a rotatable reel. The rotatable reel is adapted to support a roll of wire for rotation about a reel axis, the reel axis being generally perpendicular to the plane of the frame. The hand cart further comprises a transverse axle and a pair of rotatable wheels rotatable mounted on opposite ends of the axle. A wire straightener and a wire counter are secured to the upper mounting plate of the frame so that a length of wire pulled off the roll may be straightened and measured before it is cut to the appropriate length.
