A joint tensioning device and methods of use thereof are disclosed. The joint tensioning device includes a flexing arm and a loading arm having a tensioning tip and a loading tip, respectively, configured for insertion into a joint. The flexing arm is coupled to the loading arm such that, during use, the loading arm may be adjusted to separate the tensioning tip and the loading tip to apply a distraction force to the joint. A strain gauge measures strain applied to the flexing arm based on the applied distraction force. The measured strain is used to determine the amount of force applied to the joint. The force data is employed in surgical planning to determine the amount of joint laxity when a particular load is applied to the joint.

Joint tensioning device and methods of use thereof

Devices, systems, and methods for measuring a force applied to a joint during a surgical procedure are disclosed. The device includes an insertion tool, a handle, and one or more force indicators. The insertion tool includes an insertion end and a base end. The one or more force indicators may be attached to the insertion tool and the handle. The insertion end of the device may be inserted into a joint during a surgical procedure and used to apply a force to the joint and/or measure the force using the one or more force indicators when the force is applied.

Force-indicating retractor device and methods of use

A system for tracking resection planes during a surgical procedure includes a cutting block and a position tracker. The cutting block is configured to be mounted on an anterior surface of a bone during the surgical procedure. The cutting block comprises at least one slot configured to position a resection tool during the surgical procedure. The position tracker is configured to be directly attached to the cutting block after the cutting block is mounted on the anterior surface to allow positional tracking of the cutting block by a tracking device during the surgical procedure.

System and method for tracking resection planes

Methods and systems of placing a medical fastener at a predetermined depth in a bone are described. A surgical tool can include an attachment assembly configured to interchangeably engage a medical fastener and a cutting element or bone removal tool and a drive assembly coupled to the attachment assembly. The attachment assembly can be configured to automatically release the medical fastener in response to the drive assembly reaching its end or distal-most position to place the medical fastener at a predetermined depth within the bone.

Methods and systems for robotic-assisted insertion of medical fasteners

A cut guide assembly () and a system for mounting assembly on a patient are described. The system includes an ankle clamp (), an alignment guide () configured to be removably attached to the ankle clamp, and the cut guide assembly. The cut guide assembly includes a cut guide () and a position tracker (). The cut guide includes a receiving feature () configured to removably attach to at least a portion of the alignment guide, a locking mechanism () configured to lock the receiving feature to the at least a portion of the alignment guide, and a plurality of pin receptacles (), each of the plurality of pin receptacles configured to receive a bone pin () configured to affix the cut guide to a patient's bone. The position tracker configured to be affixed to the cut guide when the cut guide is affixed to the patient's bone.

Disclosed herein is a joint evaluation device and corresponding systems and methods for evaluating ligaments and other soft tissue connections between, for example, a tibia and a femur at a knee joint. The joint evaluation device being arranged and configured to induce and measure forces while positions of the tibia and femur are monitored. Some embodiments use a computer assisted surgery device to track positions of the tibia and the femur, and may include a computing device configured to evaluate the forces measured between a first engagement portion and a second engagement portion of the joint evaluation device to output information related to the status of the ligament and other soft tissue connections prior to any bone resections being made to the tibia or the femur.

Knee ligament evaluation system and method

Methods of measuring a force using a tracking system are disclosed. A first vector is determined between a first tracking array and a second tracking array on a tool. The tool has a flexible portion that has a known modulus of elasticity and moment of inertia. A force is applied to the tool, and a second vector is determined between the first tracking array and the second tracking array. An amount of deflection is determined for the tool, and the magnitude and direction of the applied force are determined based on at least the amount of deflection, the modulus of elasticity and the moment of inertia. Information pertaining to the magnitude and direction of the applied force is provided to a user.

Methods of measuring force using a tracking system

A method and system for updating a bone model for a surgical procedure is provided. The computer system can include a display screen for displaying a GUI that allows a user to define one or more shapes to generate a selected volume of a bone model. The computer system can update the bone model to remove the selected volume as defined by the user. The computer system can display the updated bone model to the user and/or use the updated bone model to guide the surgeon to remove the portions of the patient's bone corresponding to the updated bone model under robotic assistance.

Intraoperative computer-aided design of bone removal based on selected geometric shapes for robotic assisted surgery

Methods and systems for identifying and determining the size and orientation of a reamed portion of a patient's bone are disclosed. A tracking array and/or point probe may be inserted into an adapter device. The adapter device comprising a plurality of openings, having various connection means therein, such that when the tracking array is inserted into the adapter, a secure and robust connection is created. A reamer, stem, or similar tool may then be inserted into the opposing side of the adapter, during which, a secure and robust connection is created between the adapter and the tool. Thus, through the use of Computer Assisted Surgery Systems, a more accurate representation of the patient's anatomy can be obtained.

Surgical punch tools and methods of using the same are disclosed herein. A surgical punch tool may include a stationary base component having a planar bottom side. The planar bottom side may include one or more posts extending therefrom. Each post may include an associated sharp pin. A movable actuation portion may be configured to move each sharp pin from a non-actuated position within the corresponding post to an actuated position extending through the base component and from the corresponding post.
