A lead frame for electrically coupling a plurality of inverter legs of an inverter to a set of coil windings of an electric motor or generator, the lead frame comprising a printed circuit board having a plurality of circuit board layers. Each circuit board layer includes an insulating substrate having an electrically conductive layer formed on the insulating substrate. First, second and third circuit board layers each include a respective electrically conductive layer arranged to be coupled to a corresponding coil winding of the first set of coil windings and a respective inverter leg. A fourth circuit board layer includes a respective electrically conductive layer arranged to be coupled to all of the third coil windings to form a neutral point therebetween.

Lead frame for an electric motor or generator

An arrangement for mounting a coil winding on a stator tooth, the arrangement comprising a mounting element having a first mounting arm for receiving a first stator tooth and a second mounting arm for receiving a second stator tooth, wherein the first mounting arm is movable relative to the second mounting arm between a first position and a second position; means for mounting an electrical conductor on the first stator tooth and the second stator tooth when the first mounting arm is in the first position relative to the second mounting arm to form a coil winding on the first stator tooth and the second stator tooth; and means for placing the first mounting arm in the second position relative to the second mounting arm when the conductor has been mounted on the first stator tooth and the second stator tooth to allow the first stator tooth and the second stator tooth to be removed from the first mounting arm and the second mounting arm respectively.

Coil winding arrangement

A method of assembling an electric motor or generator having an annular first element mounted on a circumferential mounting surface of a second element, the method comprising placing a heating coil within an inner annular surface of the annular first element; applying a current to the heating coil to heat the inner annular surface of the annular first element to a temperature that results in the inner annular surface of the annular first element increasing in diameter to allow the annular first element to be mounted on or over the circumferential mounting surface of the second element; and cooling the annular first element to form an interference fit between the annular first element and the circumferential mounting surface of the second element.

Method and arrangement for assembling an electric motor or generator

An apparatus for mounting a magnet to a rotor or stator of an electric machine includes a mounting element having a second mounting surface, wherein the mounting element is arranged to magnetically interact with the magnet to allow a magnetic force to magnetically attach the magnet to the second mounting surface; means for moving the mounting element having the magnet magnetically attached to the second mounting surface to a predetermined distance from a first mounting surface of the rotor or stator; and means for moving the mounting element away from the first mounting surface when the mounting element is at the predetermined distance from the first mounting surface. The apparatus further includes means for varying the flux density between the mounting element and the magnet.
