A paper or board machine has a fabric () that is adapted mobile as well as rolls (') arranged to support the fabric (). The fabric () is tensioned by changing the position of one roll (&#x2032;) of the rolls (&#x2032;). Correspondingly, the fabric () is guided by changing the alignment of one roll (&#x2032;) of the said rolls (&#x2032;). Surprisingly the fabric () is both tensioned and guided by changing the alignment and position of only one and the same roll (&#x2032;). In addition, the wrap angle of the fabric () at this roll (&#x2032;) is set higher than 30&#xb0;.

A method and a device for tracking the position of the edge of a moving web (), such as a fabric or a web of a paper machine, in which method a pressure-sensitive sensor element () is disposed in/onto the surface of the roll () guiding the web (), which sensor element reacts to the pressure applied to it by the moving web () by producing an electric signal, on the basis of which it is possible to determine the exact position of the edge of the web () on the roll (). The band-like sensor element () comprises one single sensor strip or several sensor strips () disposed successively in the band.

Equipment for fabric guiding in a paper machine has a fabric () and rolls () adapted to support it. In connection with the roll () end there is arranged equipment comprising a stand () and a nip guard (). The stand () includes a transfer base () as well as transfer equipment () for moving the transfer base (). A method and an apparatus for web threading in a drying section of a paper machine or the like. A leader () and a so called run-down strip are formed by cutting in the web coming to the drying cylinder in the drying section. An underpressure box () is arranged at the opening gap between the drying cylinder () and the drying wire, on that side of the wire which is away from the web, whereby this box can direct against the web an underpressure which is controllable in the machine's cross direction. The underpressure box creates an underpressure region (') between the leader and the underpressure box, the region having an underpressure pat the detachment point, i.e. in the area where the wire is detached from said drying cylinder (), which underpressure is sufficient to detach the leader from said drying cylinder. A protection zone is created between the underpressure region created at the leader and the run-down strip, which protection zone has a barrier () in order to maintain the underpressure pin the underpressure region.

Method and apparatus for web threading in a drying section of a paper machine or similar

The invention relates to a roll for a paper or board machine comprising axle journals on whose support the roll is arranged to revolve, end flanges with which the axle journals are connected, and a mantle which is connected with the end flanges. The mantle is provided with a number of openings extending through the mantle and/or recesses formed into the outer surface of the mantle, which openings and/or recesses form a regular pattern. Solid connecting portions in the outer surface of the mantle around said openings and/or recesses are opened so that, from each opening and/or recess, there is a connection, provided in the form of a groove or an additional recess extending into the outer surface of the roll mantle, with at least each of the openings and/or recesses adjacent to it.

At least in a running situation, the deck of the suction box is curved or the ribs are arranged to provide a curve run of the wire so that the wire tension of the curved run over the deck or ribs serves to lower a normal force which is produced by the vacuum present in the suction box and which is effective between the wire and the deck or ribs.

A method in a paper machine for transferring a paper web from a wet wire in a former section to a pick-up fabric or an equivalent transfer fabric of a press section, including the steps of forming a pick-up point on the wet wire and separating an edge strip from at least one edge of the web prior to the pick-up point by means of at least one cutting device. The method further includes separating the web from the wet wire and passing the web onto the pick-up fabric at the pick-up point. The invention relates to a doctor assembly in a paper machine, which is intended to clean, e.g., a roll, and which includes a surface against which a doctor blade is set, a blade support for supporting the doctor blade, a frame, a jointed bearing assembly, which supports the doctor blade and is itself supported from the frame, and which is parallel to the doctor blade, and extends essentially over the entire width of the roll, and loading devices between the blade support and the frame for turning the doctor blade in relation to the frame and for pressing the doctor blade against the surface with a selected pressure.
