Data caching may include storing data associated with DRAM transaction requests in data storage structures organized in a manner corresponding to the DRAM bank, bank group and rank organization. Data may be selected for transfer to the DRAM by selecting among the data storage structures.

Dram-aware caching

A communications device sends an invite to a communication session to multiple target devices and receives first and second media streams from first and second target devices prior to receiving a signaling indication that any of the multiple target devices accepts the invite. The communications device selects between the first and second media streams based upon (i) information contained in a first packet of the first or second media streams and/or (ii) signaling information that indicates a forking context for the communication session. The communication device plays the selected media stream prior to receipt of the signaling indication. In another embodiment, after sending the invite, the communications device detects a network address and port information from (i) a media stream from a target device, and (ii) from a signaling message. The communication device sends media to the target device based on the detected information.

Managing early media for communication sessions established via the session initiation protocol (SIP)

Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques to speed up and improve silent redial success rates in wireless communications. A user equipment (UE) may determine how to attempt retrying a mobile originated (MO) call and procedures for selecting a subsequent system for attempting the call based, at least in part, on a restriction status of the call and a detected failure.

A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided where, at a first wireless node, a weighted average of a frame loss rate is determined for a plurality of frames transmitted from a second wireless node using a first codec; feedback is transmitted to the second wireless node based at least in part on the frame loss rate; and one or more frames are received from the second wireless node using a second codec, responsive to transmitting the feedback. Also, transmitting from a first wireless node a plurality of frames to a second wireless node using a first codec; receiving frame loss rate information from the second wireless node responsive to the transmitting; selecting a second codec, based at least in part on the frame loss rate information, and transmitting a second plurality of frames to the second wireless node using the second codec.

Method and apparatus for packet loss rate-based codec adaptation

This disclosure describes techniques for handling transaction timeouts during setup and management of communication sessions. In particular, a communication device may be configured to handle transaction timeouts differently based on the type of signaling and control message that experienced the transaction timeout. In one aspect, the communication devices may handle transaction timeouts experienced during register transactions differently than transaction timeouts experienced during non-register. For example, the communication device that initiated the transaction initiates at least one subsequent transaction to the current proxy server when a non-register transaction experiences the transaction timeout. After experiencing a threshold number of consecutive transaction timeouts, an expiration of a failure duration timer, or a transaction timeout associated with a register transaction, the communication device cancels the current communication session and sends a register message to a new proxy server.

Transaction timeout handling in communication session management

In general, this disclosure relates to the establishment of communication sessions between communication devices. In particular, this disclosure describes techniques that provide for quality of service (QoS) aware establishment of communication sessions. As an example, a communication device may attempt to reserve QoS for one or more codecs using a QoS reservation procedure corresponding to the access technology of an access network via which the communication device accesses a core network. The communication device selects one or more codecs to include in a call control message, such a Session Description Protocol (SDP) message, based on the QoS reservation and a QoS mode of the device.

Quality of service (QoS) aware establishment of communication sessions

In general, this disclosure is directed to establishment and release of a connection between a communication device and an access network. More specifically, the techniques of this disclosure are directed to determining when a data flow used for exchanging call control requests becomes inactive. For example, a communication device may dynamically adjust an inactivity timer threshold associated with the data flow used by applications to exchange call control messages when a new call control transaction starts or an existing call control transaction ends, e.g., by selecting a single inactivity timer threshold for the data flow to satisfy minimum connection requirements of existing call control transactions, recently ended call control transactions and the new call control transaction. The data flow is considered inactive when no applications send or receive messages via the data flow for a period of time that exceeds the adjusted inactivity timer threshold.
