A patient monitor can noninvasively measure a physiological parameter using sensor data from a nose sensor configured to be secured to a nose of the patient. The nose sensor can include an emitter and a detector. The detector is configured to generate a signal when detecting light attenuated by the nose tissue of the patient. An output measurement of the physiological parameter can be determined based on the signals generated by the detector. The nose sensor can include an inner prong and an outer prong to assist the nose sensor in securing to a patient's nose. The detector can be coupled to an inner post of the inner prong and can be configured to secure to an interior or exterior portion of the patient's nose.

Nose sensor

The nose sensor can include an emitter and a detector. The detector is configured to generate a signal when detecting light attenuated by the nose tissue of the patient. An output measurement of the physiological parameter can be determined based on the signals generated by the detector. The nose sensor can include a diffuser configured to disseminate light exiting from the emitter into or around a portion of the patient's body. The nose sensor can also include a lens configured to focus light into the detector.

Physiological sensor

A diagnostic tool, such as an otoscope or other hand-held diagnostic device features a handle, a head portion and a circuit. The handle includes a controller and the head portion includes one or more optical spectroscopy (OS) components including at least one light detection element. The circuit includes one or more portions configured to be contorted at acute through reflex angles while maintaining electrical connectivity between the controller and the one or more OS components. The circuit includes a first contact area for the at least one light detection element.

Optical spectroscopy circuitry for assessing ear health

An apparatus and method for providing a gradient strain to an extracellular matrix to induce mechanotransduction. The gradient strain can be produced by adhering the extracellular matrix to a post and the walls of a sample holder, and then rotating the post and the sample holder. This strain can result in increased stiffness of the extracellular matrix with very little loss of pore size.
