The invention described herein generally pertains to a system and method for a welding device and, in particular, a hybrid welding device, that leverages a renewable energy source for a source of electrical current. The welding device can include one or more renewable energy kits that harvest renewable energy sources for performing a welding operation or a powering at least one of a device or component external to the welding device. The welding device includes renewable energy component that collects an input to convert to an electrical current that can be used as a replacement current, a supplemental current, or a complimentary current.

Alternative power for engine driven welder

A self-contained welding power supply capable of, upon termination of welding operation, automatically setting a control signal for auxiliary power is provided. The power supply comprises an engine, a generator driven by the engine, and an excitation system that controls power output of the generator. The excitation system includes an output controller and a DC controller. The output controller includes circuitry that generates a field voltage control signal to be sent to the DC controller to regulate DC power going to field windings of the generator. Upon termination of the welding operation, the field voltage control signal is automatically set to a value appropriate for the auxiliary system operation.

An engine welder having a single rotor and a single stator, and methods of distributing electrical power capacity of the engine welder to various welding windings and auxiliary windings of the engine welder. The single rotor is driven at saturation current and independent control of the welding outputs is accomplished on the stator side of the engine welder. Means for supplying the full electrical power capacity of the engine welder to a single stator welding winding are provided. Furthermore, means for distributing the electrical power capacity of the engine welder between welding windings and/or auxiliary windings of the single stator are provided.

The invention described herein generally pertains to a system and method for monitoring a brush of a rotor/stator assembly associated with an engine driven welder. A notification system can be provided that outputs alerts related to an amount of wear on a brush in contact with a rotor/stator assembly. An in situ component can provide dynamic real time monitoring of the brush and in particular an amount of wear of the brush. Based on a predetermined amount of wear being met, a notification component can output an alert.

Brush maintenance system for engine driven welder

An engine driven welding system includes two power generators, each having a rotor and a stator. Each rotor is mounted on a respective drive shaft, with one of the drive shafts being driven by the engine and the other drive shaft being releasably coupled to the engine driven drive shaft. This provides a modular type construction of the welding system, in that the outboard power generator can be selected or changed as needed for a particular application. The coupled drive shafts are supported by two bearing assemblies. Also disclosed as additional features for any welding system power supply is a removable plate having one or more connectors releasably attached thereto for facilitating installation of an electrical component for a welding system power supply; and also a power switch having a member that restricts rotational movement of the switch.

A portable welding cell unit includes a frame structure in which first and second welding stations are disposed. A robot arm is also provided within the frame. The robot arm can pivot between the first and second welding stations such that a work piece can be welded in the first welding station while a work piece is being loaded into or unloaded from the second welding station.
