A method and a system for transmitting messages containing multimedia information or content that enables transmission and communication of multimedia messages between subscribers connected to telecommunication systems of different system operators. The inventive system includes a first mobile station terminal from which a multimedia message is sent, a second mobile station terminal that is the intended recipient of the multimedia message, a digital mobile network, a first multimedia message server for receiving a multimedia message from the first mobile station terminal, a first address database associated with the first multimedia message server, a second multimedia message server for receiving the multimedia message from the first multimedia message server, an IP network for carrying communications between the first and second multimedia message servers, and a second address database associated with the second multimedia message server.

A method and system for controlling the use of a short message service in a telecommunication system that includes a telecommunication network, a terminal device by which a subscriber is connected to the network, a mobile services switching center connected to the network, a gateway connected to the network, a short message service center connected to the gateway, and a database (DB) connected to or associated with the gateway. A short message sent by an originating subscriber is checked as to whether the short message is among those deemed non-allowed. Forwardable short messages are directed to the gateway, from which the database is queried to determine whether the originating subscriber is permitted the short message to the intended recipient or, alternatively, whether the message should been blocked based on predetermined criteria.

System and method for blocking the use of a service in a telecommunication system

A method and system for implementing a prepaid service in a packet-switched mobile communication network, in which information requested by a mobile station is delivered to the mobile station so long as the subscriber has maintained a sufficient prepaid balance from which the service charges can be deducted. An access point name definition, which points to a service node via which access to or use of an associated prepaid service is provided, is defined. A control server is used to monitor the service traffic between the mobile station and the content server after the access point name definition identified in an activation request for data service has been sent from the mobile station. Traffic monitoring continues as long as the data service is active, and the prepaid service balance in a billing database is dynamically updated to reflect the subscriber's ongoing use of the data service based on the continued monitoring of the control server.

A communications system comprising a radio access network for providing local wireless access for a mobile device and an authentication entity in a public land mobile network, wherein the authentication entity is arranged to authenticate the mobile device accessing the radio access network on the basis of authentication signalling between the authentication entity and the mobile device. The system includes a proxy entity via which transfer of the authentication signalling is arranged, and encapsulated transmission of the authentication signalling to and from the mobile device is arranged in messages of a cryptographic client-server transport layer encapsulation protocol between the mobile device and the proxy entity. The system provides encapsulated transfer of the authentication signalling to and from the authentication entity in messages of an AAA client-server protocol between the proxy entity and the authentication entity.

The present invention relates to a method for collecting inter-operator charging information in a group communications system comprising a first group communications network element and a second group communications network element. An intermediate charging information collection unit is provided in an interface between the group communication network elements. The charging information collection unit examines a group communications message received from the first group communications network element or the second group communications network elements. A charging information unit is generated based on at least a portion of the message and the charging information unit is applied for inter-network charging to charge for use of inter-network resources.

Method and system for routing of short messages in a telecommunication system

Procedure and system for optimizing the route of a telecommunication connection to be set up in a telecommunication system that includes a mobile switching center (MSC), a service switching point (SSP), a service control point (SCP), a gateway (GW), and a subscriber register (HLR). The service switching point is connected to the service control point and the gateway is connected to the service control point and to the subscriber register. The telecommunication connection to be set up is directed via the service switching point to the service control point. A database query is sent from the service control point, via the gateway, to the subscriber register. In response, the subscriber register returns routing information, on the basis of which an optimal route to the mobile switching center under which the B-subscriber is currently located is determined.

Procedure and system for the transmission of information and establishment of a telecommunication connection

The invention relates to telecommunications systems, in which a subscriber is identified in a network with a first identifier and with a second identifier in a server providing services to the subscriber through the network. In the invention the first identifier is changed (-) in a message to be transferred to the server to a second identifier before transferring the message to the server. Thus the message received from the network can be associated with a particular subscriber in the server.
